8 Celebrities Who Drive BMW Cars

Even if you barely follow celebrity news, it should come as no surprise that celebrities love buying and driving around in high-end cars — but while we’re used to seeing them in some of the most expensive vehicles out there, not every celebrity wants to drive just exotic super-cars.

Some celebrities prefer more down-to-earth luxury cars and have been known to cruise in their BMWs. Here are eight celebrities that we know drive BMWs.

1. Pierce Brosnan

BMWs were the vehicle of choice for Pierce Brosnan’s 007, and it seems like the actor himself has similar taste. The Irish-American actor, who is best known for his time on screen as James Bond, has been known to drive a BMW i8, one of the most advanced sports cars from BMW.

The i8 is a stylish enough car for any secret agent,  built for high speeds and maneuverability — and it’s also fully electric, which is likely a big plus for Brosnan, who is a committed environmentalist.

2. Britney Spears

Britney Spears isn’t known for driving exotic imports — instead, she’s been seen driving a more modest BMW Mini Cooper. The Mini Cooper is one of the most iconic and easily recognizable models of car, making it a perfect fit for the singer who was once one of the biggest names in pop music and is worth more than $200 million today.

3. Charlie Sheen

Sheen has been seen driving a couple luxury cars — including a Mercedes S Class and a Maserati GranCabrio — but still finds room in his collection for a BMW X5.

4. Gigi Hadid

The American supermodel was the star of one of BMW’s biggest ad campaigns in 2016, which featured her along with the BMW M2 Competition Coupe.

5. Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon is known for having a huge number of daily drivers, but still counts a BMW among her collection of cars. Witherspoon was spotted driving a BMW ALPINA B7 with her husband, who appear to have found a place for one of the most stylish and luxurious BMWs in their car collection.

6. Angelina Jolie

The actress picked up a hybrid vehicle from BMW long before they were cool, back in 2007. She and her husband Brad Pitt are both outspoken environmentalists, so it’s easy to see why the couple would be quick to add a Series 7 to their collection of cars.

7. Scottie Upshall

The National Hockey League player who has collected more than 800 appearances in the League since his debut in 2003, Scottie Upshall has also been known to drive the i8, one of the most in-demand BMWs with a fully electric engine.

8. Jerry Ferrara

Probably best known for his role as Turtle from Entourage, Ferrara has been known to drive around town in his BMW X5.

Celebrities with BMWs

Celebrities are known for buying and driving some of the most luxurious and advanced cars out there — for some, that means keeping a BMW in their car collection.

There are many reasons why a celebrity would want a BMW — whether it’s because of their stylishness, their performance or because they want a greener, hybrid vehicle — so it makes sense that there’d be so many who keep a BMW in their garage.

What to Do If You Inherit a Classic BMW

No one likes to think about inheritances. They can be a fantastic windfall for many people, but to get them, someone has to die. That’s why we often don’t prepare for them, and end up scrambling to sort through the will, probate and any related inheritance paperwork. One tricky thing to navigate is car inheritance. What should you do if you inherit a classic BMW?

First, Paperwork

The first thing you’ll have to do is navigate the paperwork — which can be a pain if your deceased relative didn’t leave a will, or you don’t have an inheritance lawyer to help you figure it out.

If they did leave a will, once the will has gone through probate, all you will need is the car title and a copy of the probated will to transfer the car title into your name. Once that’s done, the car is yours.

If they didn’t leave a will, you will still need the title, but in addition to that, you will also need a letter signed by all the heirs stating the car belongs to you. If the inheritance gets contested, will or no will, you will absolutely need a lawyer in your corner to help iron out the wrinkles.

Bring the Car Home

Step two is bringing your new car home. This can be tricky, depending on where the car is and whether it is running at the time. If it drives well, you can drive it home with you. If it won’t start, you’re left either paying for an auto shipper to bring the car home to you, or renting an A-frame trailer to tow it home yourself.

Towing it yourself is the cheaper of the two options — even if your car doesn’t have the kind of towing capacity you need, renting a truck and an A-frame to tow your new car home is still more cost-effective than paying for an auto shipper.

Storing the New Car

Storage is especially important with a classic BMW — they tend to be quite popular with car thieves, so the last thing you want is to bring your new BMW home and leave it in the driveway. Make sure you have somewhere safe to store your new car before you bring it home — this could be in your garage, in a local storage unit or in a family member’s garage until you can clean all the clutter that is currently in yours.

It becomes especially important if your deceased friend or relative was a collector and you inherited a bunch of different cars. Selling a few of them is an option, but if you want to keep the collection together, you will need a large garage to store them in. Make sure you invest in a good commercial garage door, so you can easily get your cars in and out, but can also ensure your inheritance is secure.

Inheriting a car or a collection of cars can be an excellent way to get your hands on some amazing classics. Just make sure you’re prepared to navigate the inheritance paperwork and have somewhere to store them when you finally get them home.
