I have both but I am using MIG on this project. I have just started TIG bought a system about 4 years ago but I am a slow learner. I was told it was just like gas welding but with an electric torch - BS! I have been gas welding for 50 years and there is no comparison. I fall back on MIG when I need to do a project fast, TIG is cleaner and less heat but it is tricky. I need to take some lessons from someone here at the house on my system. I spent 2500.00 on the system and it has a total of 12 hours of processing time on it. Very frustrating!

1. Cleared the airbag warning light. Had three errors, Ignition position 0 overvoltage, power supply undervoltage, and something about the driver airbag. Only thing I can think of is either a power anomaly during engine start or my dang seat switch keeps popping out of place and caused a sporadic spark.
2. Opened up the side of the driver seat and seated the seat switch using plenty of Gorilla tape. The plastic tab to hold it in place was broke when I got the car.
3. Fixed passenger side fog light. The pigtail was destroyed during my self inflicted bumper crash at the Burbank airport. Thanks to AquilaBMW for the new pigtail.
4. Continued to investigate why the low speed portion of the aux fan is not working, thus no A/C when at a stop light. All fuses were good. Tried INPA for codes but it would not talk to the AC module. Time for old fashioned mechanic work, for a non-mechanic.
On tap...
1. Replace the coolant pipes front and rear o-rings due to a leak at the water pump connection. I really don't want to go through the effort of pulling off the intake...again...but I must. Leak is slowly progressing, last thing I need is to be gushing coolant on the LA freeways in morning traffic and make the news as the guy who really screwed up traffic on the 5.
2. Replace rear brakes. BRAKE warning light has been on for several weeks now, parts on order arriving today sometime. Textar pads, Ake rotors.
3. Install the tap turn signal module from Darth.
4. And the really big project, install facelift front seats in the car.

The one I provide to Kouks is for a two wire system, yours being an '01 like mine is a one wire system to the bus, it will not work. Believe me I tried. I actually have another box for the two wires systems. They came from the UK - Edwin got them for me several years ago. They don't make one for our cars or I haven't found one anyway. I have been looking ever since I got '07 Avalanche back in '07 - I love that feature. My wife's new SRX also has it but not my Bimmer.

interesting, Ill have to note this down to come back to later after I get the mechanical/suspension issues dealt with...
Picked up my black suede headliner material and some adhesive spray. (My uncle is a distributor for 3M and recommended this stuff on the right. The green can will eat through the foam backing apparently)

yesterday I found some panel retainers that fit almost perfectly to hold the hood vent in place (I will trim them down to fit flush in the groove)

I had an old friend come by this morning and want ed to put his pickup on my lift to remove an old 12 vdc cable that ran from under his hood to the rear of the truck by the trailer hitch - 00 cable. This required that I move Darth off the lift with the exhaust half finished and open. It is loud but it already sounds better than before - now 3" from cats back thru the crossover.
First it sounds like the new Corvette down the street when it starts - it just "POPS" to life, which I like. If I can keep this part and then just tone it down without a drone on the highway I will be a happy camper!

All you cars look great. Darth, Board, etc.../
I came to this party a little late and life has gotten in the way of my making my dream e38. I'm going to be saddened by letting her go but will hopefully be back.
What did I do to her today? I put a piece of plastic over the d=assenger window as it won't go up after the alternator change.
