Well......i'm calling it Vavona haha, it matches very very close, so close that someone who is not an expert woodsman wouldn't readily know the difference.
And I'm not too keen on removing the seat back wood strip to find the ID sticker. I couldn't find one on the C-pillar lights....maybe ill see it on the lower B-pillar (I left everything in the packaging to keep it protected and organized...)
I did notice though I will have to relocate the upper mounting spring on the seat backs; the 750 springs are positioned further inboard than the 740, most likely because of the 4 pins from the wood strip. shouldn't be too tricky, a little JB weld should prove to perfect. I'll post pics when I get home.
I Finally found a Docking station for my I phone 6 and it works with the OEM SYSTEM VIA Intravee II

Let me see. Currently replacing the the radiator. One thing on this car I've not done. Was sitting at a light last weekend when I noticed steam coming from the front of my car. What the heck. Got home and immediately thought the worst. Failed radiator. so I got online and ordered a replacement. In the mean time I pulled the old one out. At that time I realized that the leak might be coming from the overflow tube which was obscured by the fan shroud during my initial investigation. Sure enough there was a split in the hose when I got it out. Back online to order the tube. Oh well. The radiator could use a replacement. Original radiator at 220k and still functions. I'll set it aside as a backup should the new one ever fail.
Finally got to install the new Alpina Lip. PlastiDip black and the lettering is Arctic Silver.

No. There is no factory limited slip spools that accept the 215mm gear set, only aftermarket. My build is based on a 210mm 3.15:1 ration ring and pinion gear set utilizing the M12 bolt size (more on this later).
I built the diff using an early e38 differential with the more standard 210mm size and used the rebuilt and slightly modified e39 M5 spool. One thing that I left out of the original post was that the M5s use M14 ring gear bolts and my ring gear uses a smaller M12 size. This means that it is necessary to press a sleeve into each ring gear bolt hole in the spool from the M5 in order to fill the voids from the smaller bolts in the larger M14 holes. Pretty common practice with custom diff building but just requires an additional step and a few more parts.
As for the output flanges that is going to vary on a car by car basis as there were thee half shaft types used on e38s. Even the facelift sports used two different sizes based on production date so it gets somewhat complicated. RealOEM will be your friend as far as research on compatibility with the output flanges and half shafts. One thing to note is that you will not be able to use the newer 215mm output flanges on the earlier 210mm diffs though. They will have to be from a standard 210mm diff. I happened to have 27mm half shafts with the 94mm bolt spacing on my 12/00 build sport and the 210mm diff I started with also did. I sorta got lucky in that aspect as there will likely be additional swapping required there for many people equating to more money and parts.
Let me know if you have any other questions and I will do my best to try to answer them.

Thanks for reminding me. I'm on vacation the next two weeks and along with the list of honey dos I have to fix an airbag light that came on a week ago, replace the rear brakes (light is on), replace e coolant pipe o-rings ( front ones on the pump are leaking), and I'll put this on the list too. The airbag light may be related to the steering wheel anyway.

I have begun the build of the new exhaust. This time it will be 3 inch from just behind the cats and O2 sensors to the rear mufflers. Not planning on a center resonator, a crossover instead, then back to the modified OEM mufflers (Dinan or Hamburg modified). I will use the trapezoid tips to start, we will see later...

With Dinan type mufflers it will sound like nascar vehicle, then as closer X-pipe to the engine as better the effect out of it (in theory you need it to even the exhaust pressures between left and right banks), let me look for the link for reso's I got,
hm, can't find exact same ones, but there is similar ones. Vibrant have 2.5 and 3" ones, but own is 2.25 and 2.5 will work as well

Started to miss while stopped in traffic today. Thought it was going to stall out in the middle lane.
While driving at speed it ran smooth as normal however.
I was closed to my preferred Indy and stopped in for a scan despite no warning lights.
He found coil 6 out of range and recommend replacement. I'll do that tomorrow.
My '01 has 117k and I assume original coils.
I replaced the plugs about 8 weeks ago.

Max - as it is right now it is quiet as stock system, even with the MagnaFlow center resonator and the modified rear OEM mufflers.
Agreed I did try the plain crossover with the Remus and it was Nascar - that is why I have the MF center resonator(which has an internal crossover now).
My feeling is that as quiet as it is now by going to 3 " and the same modified OEM's in back it will be louder but not NASCAR. The 3" over the stock 2 1/4 will help I know or hope anyway. I guess we will see - what else do I have to do I am retired, remember............

You may have cause a problem with the lead/wire - not the coil.

im very behind with my rear bumper paint work, guys been very busy with a lot of collision repairs lately, last two big snowstorm caused a lot of work to came by lol,
and I don't want to argue over it to ruin the relationship with the sop I work with, so I'm just being patient,
its a lot of snow outside and it been cold anyway to drive my red car

I was thinking, does anybody have any ideas what to use to made some heat shields to give exhaust tip openings some sort of finishing which can by the way protect diffuser from melting around hot tips?

Painted with PlastiDip, about 6 coats. Let dry overnight. Taped masking tape over letters and cutout with exacto knife to get a stencil. Used primer, then Arctic Silver rattle can from a car paint shop, then clear coat. Let dry overnight. Carefully peeled off tape. Use a fine brush on the edges if any imperfections. The good thing about PlastiDip is you can paint before you install and there will be no cracks as you fit the lip. Easier to do close detailed work on the letters.
If you have to paint the lip a body color like in the facelift cars you have to install first, then paint, makes it more of a pita.

I want to know when you figure out the correct combo. I used to have an IROCZ that sounded cool in the driveway and at stop lights but did not drone on the highway. Looking for that type of sound before I replace mine. I have an exhaust leak that is slowly grinding on me so I have to get down there anyway.

thank you Nord for great installation![]()
so, today while driving my radio/nav just shut down......it's never happened before, nothing I did would make it turn back on at all for any amount of time......when I got a chance to pull over I shut off the car, then turned it back on and everything worked as it normally does.........do you guys think it's a sign of a soon to die nav? or dsp amp? or nothing to worry about, it happens from time to time with these quirky cars?
Someone needs to make REAL angel eyes... ie; that don't shine outward which is annoying as hell. A real angel eye should be an LED at each end of the plastic ring, shining sideways into it so the ring illuminates and is visible, but doesn't cast such ridiculous outward facing light, blinding anyone in front of you. That's why I got rid of my angel eyes, it was crazy, I could drive down the street at night with my lights off using just the AE's to light the road up. I installed a dimmer and put them down low, but then you can see the individual LEDs too easily.
Going to make my own some day but priorities. Such a shame the only option available outside of OEM are these blinders :\
(still looks great Pavrom haha, good work)
