Lip is done. Atleast 6-7 coats applied from 1 can.
Will serve sometime until I find the one that will sit normally. This one is from Poland and was 1cm short on each side.

    -E34 M60B40 + Tremec TKO 600 (sold)
and sadly no old BMW anymore, only high powered Seat Leon Cupra 4Drive as a daily driver.

2016 what did you do to your e38 today?

I finally got around to getting my custom built 3.15 limited slip diff in my '01 740i 6 speed swap car last weekend.

The diff was built using a 210mm 25% LS spool from a donor e39 M5 diff with a shredded pinion gear. I completely disassembled and rebuilt the spool with new clutches from Johnathan at Thayer Motorsport and used the fancy ARP M12 ring gear bolts along with new 12.9 hex bolts on the spool lid. I put the diff together with new Timken output bearings, output shaft seals, input seals, and new flange cover o-rings. Hopefully it should be good to go for another 75k miles or so before needed new clutches again.

I have run it in for about 200 miles so far and tested the breakaway torque to be about 76 ft-lbs with stock preload on the clutches and Castrol 75w-90 Syntrax without any additional friction modifiers in it.

I'm pretty happy so far, cant wait for the rain later this week and I will give it a good thrashing. So far I have been resisting the urge to kick the tail out too much since everything is still wearing together between the clutch and plates but I can tell it does lock pretty well. No more single wheel breakaway around tight 1st and 2nd gear corners which previously would just result in a large cloud of smoke and me going nowhere, all while looking like a tool in an AMG...LMFAO

A little OT: I wish I had the guts to do something like this on my '07 Avalanche. The ol' gal with 78K miles is starting to slip pretty badly, even in a straight line. Priced a used one with 80K miles = $1,800.00 from junk yard. Chevy dealer said north of $1,200.00 to rebuild mine for clutches and seals - anything more extra...

The top two pieces go on the side of the rear shelf shade. be careful putting them back on. they are easy to brake.
If you have no use for them, I will be happy to buy them from you provided they are no broken tabs.

It would be hard to make money or even break even unless I sold them for $1500+. I got lucky and had a friend with an LQ4 6.0l GM motor swap in his e39 540i demolish the pinion gear in his e39 M5 diff in that car and gave me the remains. This was the spool I was able to salvage and rebuild. Normally an e39 M5 diff goes for anywhere north of $500 and then needs about $300 of new clutches/plates and $100 of seals. That is on top of the 3.15 210mm e38 diff that is required for the spool to fit into.

What sort of LS spool or locker does that truck use. I know my 2006 GMT800 3/4 ton suburban has the G80 locking diff option code and uses an Easton G80 locking spool. No clutches or anything to wear out, but they do commonly fail completely if they are abused in high traction situations such as pavement. It not a clutch type limited slip as BMWs use, but a true locking diff that locks 100% solid when it engages.

You are correct sir - It does have the G80 locker - with a 3.73 ratio. The junk yard may have been that high because they would only sell the complete rear end with the electronic shocks and all(which are probably bad now). From a dead stop only, it feels like like you are starting from ice for a milisec - then all is OK till the next stop.............

After sitting all winter, the weather finally got good enough to work outside. My suspension had gone to crap and was riding terribly, so I replaced the tie rod ends and upper and lower control arms. Got it aligned and took it on a test drive and was smiling from ear to ear. I finally got my ride back! Then the DS front brake caliper locked up, so time for brake work!

Ordered some parts! Front upper and lower control arms, front right brake caliper with rotor and pad, a/c compressor and drier, some manual swap parts, rear bumper and bumper trim, new tail lights, new euro front corner lights, cluster LED bulbs, a trunk light (one of the tabs broke off and it just dangles), rear shocks with OEM Sport springs (getting rid of the UUC saggy rear springs), a ball joint tool, a new headlight level sensor, a window regulator, and a Monsoon DSP sub box. I'll finish up the rest of the manual swap parts, order some UUC sway bar upgrades, buy a new rear M Parallel, new chrome OEM grills since I'm over the black grills, and get the Anthracite gray paint fully corrected. The point is factory-OEM restored.

2016 what did you do to your e38 today?

I cut about an inch off the dual tips and brought them in more. I felt they stuck out too much.

For some strange reason the sound is a lot sportier???

Looks good - not too much for sure, maybe even another 1/2 or 3/4 inch still wouldn't hurt!

New Continental DWS06 tires on all four corners. (235/50/18's and 275/40/18's). What a difference in the handling. My BF Goodrich G Force t/a kdw2'a have been great, sticky tires, but I should have replaced them last year. Road noise is gone, vibration gone and noise on braking gone.

Combined with rebuilt Vanos, I am loving this car again.

Did you put that into your 215 housing or swap in a complete 210 case? If the latter, did you use your 215 stubs with the 210 case or get the older half shafts? I'm looking to do this as well just want to know all the parts I need to collect.

Another half inch would cause the shorter pipe inside the cut. That would defeat the staggered look

I wouldn't make it short enough to go inside but flush would be Ok. Maybe just the camera angle it looked to be still sticking out some.

Ordered even more parts: valve cover gaskets, CCV valve, spark plugs, purge valve, MAF. She's getting a makeover in the next couple months. I have my little eye on a few other things before the manual swap and full paint correction.

cpillar lights, cigarette doors, lower 750 bpillars, rear center console handle, upper front seat backs and front reading lights all arrived......all in the lovely vavona wood! cant wait to get this headliner material so I can start to update my interior! should be here this week prior to weekend.

also dropping the car off to get shot thrust arms replaced ($640 OUCH!!!! I know its a bit high, but I was in a rush and unfortunately didn't do my due diligence so that's the price I pay... I do have two vehicles so I should have taken the time to research and could have easily done this myself. On the plus side I am trying to make a good rapport with my local, and very knowledgeable BMW mechanic, so this will help I'm sure.)
