This is the first I have seen this happen to a speaker. I think the box was dropped or abused during shipping and the magnet came loose from the plastic frame it was attached to.
I certainly could take some accountability for not double boxing it with shipping peanuts between the two boxes, but then for a box that size shipping costs would be through the roof.
Live and learn.

I dismembered a speaker a while back for torture testing and it seems they may have changed the way the magnet is fastened to the frame.
In your picture above there are 4 mounting rivets and in the pic below there are many more.

Installed my new tie rod and rod ends this afternoon, 2 hr job. followed this awesome WRITE UP
upon moving the old ball joints around I was able to hear what sounded like small bubbles popping. So in with the new!
all new parts, Meyle, and they look and feel solid.
Install went well however when I put the wheels back on I did the 9/3 o'clock tug just for fun, and was able to feel and hear a noise,
see video below for details:
steering wheel was locked, and everything was torqued and double checked. Is this normal? (I had my thrust arms replaced a couple months ago with genuine OEM BMW parts, installed at a shop)
(looking up a the pitman arm)

yesterday I was playing around trying to find this mystery clunk in my front end when I noticed two things,
first, what is this bracket for? and am I missing it?
image2.JPG
and secondly, the seals around me headlights are showing some signs of aging...perhaps a headlight cleaning/cleansing/re-sealing operation is in order...

Finally finished this project which took way too long using terrible parts from Amazon. I ended up making my own. It may not be as clean, but it works as designed and i'm happy with it.
first had to tap into the Tape Deck audio out (blue and yellow wires) with the left and right RCA plugs. soldered of course.
IMG_1743.jpg
second was running the other side of the RCA cable through the center console and to the ashtray location. I didn't get a picture but I ran it down the bottom right just behind the passenger's "seat warmer" button is, then along that skinny carpet panel to the left of the passengers knee. and then up to the ashtray compartment.
I then soldered an old cigarette USB adapter to the lighter power and ground so I could actually charge my phone in my car. (forgive the sloppy soldering, my skills improved immensely after this project though...) This was one of the bigger issues I ran into, I was going to use an already built adapter bought off amazon but it would work, the 12v to 5v converter would not charge an I-Phone, it charged a samsung though. so I just cut up the old adapter which I knew worked, and made piece with the amazon plug...
IMG_1781.jpg
Next was making a mounting plate for the USB and 3.5mm AUX plug. This had to fit into the hole where the stock lighter used to be. some time with the dremel made this an easy job. I actually used the mounting bracket that came with the amazon plug for this, so I did get one useful thing out of it i guess.
IMG_1786.jpg
Then cutting/drilling the holes for the 3.5mm and USB plug, again dremel...I wanted to make sure they were a snug fit to help with keeping them in place when plugging and unplugging. the only way I could get both of them to fit was to cut into the ashtray body slightly (see on the right side of the USB port) this is because of all the capacitors and resistors sticking out of it and impeding the 3.5mm plug.
IMG_1787.jpg
and finally the finished product, a little bit of epoxy and contact cement made quick work of securing everything in place. let it dry over night, cleaned it up a bit, and buttoned everything up nicely. I am quit pleased with my efforts.

Started by removing the windshield washer nozzles to see if they were in fact heated, and diagnose the issue with the nozzle, and I also found the hoses were both cracked very brittle. Anyone know if I can replace these hoses with something like garden irrigation hose? its gotta be similar...
image1.JPG
I'm also curious about this door trim gap. its only on the drivers side. it doesn't look like the trim was pushed or moved.
image2.JPGimage3.JPG
also testing out Leatherique on my rear headrest. from the sun being able to get to it i thought it was the perfect candidate. letting it sit overnight in the hot Houston garage. might have to reapply tomorrow.
image5.JPG
also wanted to see if the new spring/strut assembly would require a spring compressor....it doesn't! haha with the B&G lowering springs on the Bilstein B4 struts I can press it together with one hand! just waiting on the front bump stops and dust cover.
little tease...

That drip rail gap is wrong for sure, very strange but should be easy enough to fix. It will want to slide along it's rail from the front towards the rear. The hockey stick part on the right won't move, but the left longer part will. Put a lot of effort in to it. Worst case scenario you break the clips and need more - they are 40¢ each.
As for that pitman arm wobble, WOW, did you figure it out?

Damn I just saw that you dyed your door seals! I tried painting mine with fabric dye in a can annnd it took a WHOLE can. Just the other day I thought, "damn I could probably just DYE them!! I'm so SMART!" .... :|

$233.35 from Sparktec Motorsports in California. Took about a week and a half for them to get them from B&G, then about 4 days to ship to Houston.
I'll give that a shot. the front of the rail didnt seem to be out of place. but ill try none the less.
as for the the pitman arm, I have not tackled that issue quite yet. I have replaced Thrust arms, tie rod, tie rod ends, sway bar end links, and almost have everything to install new B&G S2 springs on Bilstein B4 struts. I'm really hoping that clears up the clunk. if it does, then I wont worry about the pitman arm wiggle. (some other membets have commented that they have it too, and honestly I cant feel it while driving anyways)
Yea! the dye worked great, and it leaves the material texture the same as stock. nice and soft, just different color. I still have two doors to finish up, (which is why it isn't green on my very first post.) That's going to be completed this afternoon actually.
On a seperate note, I did order some Forever Black on Amazon to refresh all of the exterior trim. I'll have before and after pics of course!

Broke out the Leatherique for the first time and tested in on the rear headrest. HOLY COW. The difference in both look and feel is remarkable. SO naturally I did it a second time. and started the remaining headrests. Letting it sit in the car in the hot Texas sun to help soak it up better.
un-treated on the left, one treatment on the right.

And I fixed the trim gap. just had to push the front section (the long section) back and it closed the gap perfectly.

Excellent!
If that drip rail slides again, just put a tiny dab of windshield glue or something at the front underneath, it'll stop it from moving and not attract water/rust =)

The "rejuvenation oil"?
https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/products/leatherique
yea the rejuvenation oil and pristine clean. the oil will leave a residue (a bit tacky to the touch, the cleaning solution removes that without removing the oil from the leather.
this is what I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
i'm not sure if the 16oz bottles i have will do my entire interior twice. I'll probably do the rear seats next and see where I stand.
good call on sliding the rail back! worked like a charm, thanks!

Yesterday I tried the leatherique on the rear bench seat. let it sit in the sun for 6+ hrs, cleaned it up, and found that there wasnt that big of a change. during the cleaning process, I did find that a lot of the grey color was coming off onto the brush supplied by leatherique...so maybe a re-dye is in order after seat restoration...
image1.JPG
speaking of seat refurbishment, I decided to full retard on the back seats. (the center console is not in bad shape so I am using it to keep the seat belts out of the way.) coated them in leatherique rejuvination oil last night, let them sit all night, and am now letting them sit in the sun all day today at work. Hopefully this Houston heat will work its magic.
image2.JPGimage3.JPG
I will wipe away any dirt and grime and then reapply tomorrow morning to soak again. I am hoping for much better results after this period of time. I can still FEEL a big difference in the headrests I did last week, but would like them to LOOK more refreshed. i'll be sure to post pictures after the next few days of soaking...
---------UPDATE----------
letting it soak again in sun today. fresh oil was rubbed in this morning. It is a little rainy but its still pretty warm.
(pointing to it with my shadow)

Bavarian Machine Specialties and some other local shops in Houston want me to pay $1,100 for them to swap in my assembled suspension....looks like I need to free up a weekend for me to do it. Dam.

I'm not too surprised. If that is just labor they are estimating it as a 10-11 hour job (with a lift). Sounds like a long weekend for you.
where did you get those new headlight seals from? they're all I need to complete my facelift conversion!
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=63_0548
part 18.
I think I got them at FCPEuro. Either there or ESCTuning.
And just to be clear, they are the seals that seal against the hood. they do not seal the headlight glass to the headlight enclosure. headlights do not need to be removed for installation.

finished buttoning up the interior. all done! looks great, feels great, handles like a dream, and no more clunk!
wheel spacers are now in the back of my head...
