maybe you guys could help..... i have a 95 M42 block w/ 97 M44 head oil pressure light is on, takes forever to start, idles rough, dies while driving. head if decked, ported and polished, the whole 9 yards. i may have some wires mixed up but it is throwing a coolant temp sensor code 1223 even before the swap. the original head was junk due to 3 cracks from the previous owner. but i need some help trying to figure out what the issue is here. if anyone has the diagram for the wire harness that goes down the center of the intake that would be great. so please anything helps. and before anyone despises me for the M44 head the reason is for the little extra low end and because they have 70% less friction and they are a crap ton quieter.
I know this thread is long and probly missing some of it but here is a compact ti m44 engine I made a long time ago the spec was
cams
lightened flywheel
standard exhaust manifold with high flow cat and straight through
Ecu remap.

Wish I had put it on dyno before it was taken apart this was last drive as had been in accident cracked the sump and bent front chassis

How can I contact you? I have a few questions but I'm a bit too clumsy on this forum and don't really know how to privately contact someone. Thanks!
What head gasket was used for this project or what to use?? )
Thinking to do same setup. ))

Hi can someone tell me if I can use the s50b32 pistons thank you
hi my friend greetings from greece i have an e30 with the same swap but the pistons are broken.. i have bought euro m3 piston but in tdc i have 1,4 mm gap and the euro m3 pistons have 21mm pin and th old ones have 22 mm so my question is can you tell me exangly what piston did you use and what didi you do with the piston pin??? any information will be helpfull
Bit of a thread revival, but wouldn't the stroke be top to bottom? So you'd only add 3.5mm? And obviously 3.5mm lower too.
The problem I see with the M50 and m44 parts is that the best part of the m42 is the forged parts, or does that not include the con rods? I'm guessing the pistons themselves aren't forged.
I'm looking into this ATM, and concerned about the extra piston height. Especially if I want to run low compression and turbo it.
So I'd need to lose 4mm+ and figure out exactly how much give me 8/9:1 before boosting. That sounds too maths-y for right now. I'd like to get a spare block and give it a go outside of the car.
Of course I'm probably gonna bore out the liners a little too, because why not. Seems silly not to if I'm going to that extent with it anyway. But yeah, low comp pistons with the right crown height, and ring heights. I'm a little out of my depth with that level of calculation, so I'm hoping someone else has found a workaround, or forged rods/pistons that just fit perfectly and are suitable for boost.
So that's not a question, but more appeal for an easy answer 😂
I have an M44 and want to do a turbo specific build. Would the M47 crank, M42 rods and either M42 or M44 pistons (I want forged so maybe M42) give me a low enough compression ratio. 8.5/9:1??
Awesome build btw.
Hey man,can i have your contact ... about m42 stroker i have some problems
Thanks 😁
