    Hi doc john,

Thanks for the post. How is your new-to-you Baur coming along? Done anything to it lately?

I took my 1982 323i Baur on a little 900 mile excursion last month to Bimmerfest East in MD. 1,899 bimmers.... mine was the only Baur. Had a ball!

Nice to connect with you and I'm jealous of your trip. I think this is why the video got my attention, I can't wait to get back on the road.

I'm making some nice progress on my TC1. I have basically overhauled the entire front end suspension and steering: Strut bearings, coil pads, Bilstein HD's, urethane steering rack bushings, tie rod assemblies and boots. Control arms, stabilizer, and new rotors and pads were done by Conkitchen before I received it. I've also replaced the rear crankshaft seal, turned the flywheel and put a new Sachs clutch assembly in.

The gearbox is back in, But I'm waiting on a darn transmission mount from Bavauto before I put the driveline and exhaust back in. For some reason, I stripped the threads on the one I'd purchased previously despite following the torque specs. I'll try again.

Hopefully, I've put everything back together well and I can enjoy what I expect will be profound change in the car's performance. I expect to move to the rear suspension next.

Wow, sounds you are doing a great job. I bet it WILL be a profound change in performance. Good luck with all that and keep us posted.

My son accompanied me on the trip, and we included stops to visit three other Baur owners on our itinerary: one project Baur, one in a Museum ... and one that COULD be in a Museum!

Oh wow a Baur in Arizona! I would love to see this car sometime. If you ever happen to go to the Pavillions on Saturday nights, please let me know I will keep the Baur company with my Alpine in the parking lot!

Those Baurs were moving at a pretty good clip in the last part. Those divider strips are about 10 meters long (30 feet) and they were blowing past those at a good clip. I'd guess about 85-90 mph (140kph?). I'm not sitting at my dashboard to do see the actual conversion.
I still drive daily with no commute...

140km/h isn't that fast. This years vacation, with full package, went with about the same speed. And wenn I'm in Germany, I usually do about 160km/h (100mph).

    Nice video btw!

I hope to be back on the road soon. I went to a Pavilions meeting back in July and had a nice time connecting with other enthusiasts. Most people had never seen a Baur. I'll send you a message next time I head out there. Appreciate the interest and I'd love to see your 320is Alpine.

Very cool! I hope she's back while the weather is still fair, once it starts hitting 65 or below at night all the wussies stay inside and the Pavillions go quiet! At least that was my experience last year... Anyways though I look forward to meeting you and seeing the car, a Baur is one vehicle that I have never seen in person, and I've seen some pretty rare stuff!
