Are there any 15" stock wheels besides e30 m3 wheels that will work for M size rear brakes? Also, is the clearance issue only the caliper or will the dust shields have to be trimmed too?
Anyone got a pair they are looking to get rid of?
The dust shields fit with the e30 rims, just the calipers hit.
People run 16" contour replicas with a 16" slick. I would go that route.
97 M3 - 8.94@164 - 8 sec street machine, all BMW driveline, factory ECU
02 M3 - 9.74@145 - Maximum PSI stage 2 turbo kit, stock motor, factory ECU
16 M3 - 9.3@151 - Built motor/twins
15 M3 - 9.2@162 - Built motor/single turbo/Ecutek
BMW SOB's turbo E30 - 8.72@158.39

You have to grind off ALOT of the caliper to make the E30 wheels fit. Also, the large slick will be a pain to fit in the well. I am running the E30 wheel and large slicks, with the sport springs I am sure I will rub.
I wish I would have started with a 16'' replica and slick.
TEC-3R, T4 GT40, WISECO, EAGLE, SUPERTECH, O-RING'D "FRANKENSTEIN" STROKER.
The reason I want to go with 15s is that I allready have 2 sets M/T from my other car. Also, my car is a mcoupe so there shouldn't be any fender clearance issues.
Not sure about 15", but I have a great 16" setup for sale.
16" CCW Classics
Firestone 5.00/5.25/16 front (skinnies)
MT E/T Street 26/11.5/16 rear
This will bolt right up to a M Roadster or Coupe. The setup is used, and in great condition. One front skiny got a screw in it and needs a patch, but thats no biggie. My estimation is around 30 or so passes down the strip with them. A M Roadster ran a 1.7s 60' with these.
$1800 for the wheels and tires.

Here is the tire tread, plenty left.

So 16" wheels and which tires/size...Hoosiers R6? I'm specifically talking about drag racing.

Fuck sake! The misinformation [even from me ;-)]
1. There are no 16" slicks (well there are but only in 34" tall slicks for pro mod cars!). Ther are decent drag radials in 16" but NO SLICKS. [Edit: Aprt from Hoosier slicks see post below]
2. Drag radials are nowhere near as good as slicks
3. You can fit 26"x10" slicks under an M Coupe totally stock (unmodified in any way). You cannot fit any larger than 26"x10" slicks under an M Coupe if you retain stock chassis and bodywork. To fit larger would require massive engineering (would no longer be a street car).
4. The maximum size you can fit under an E36 M3 may be the Hoosier Quicktime Pro 26"x9.5"x16" [See post below for part number and more details] - thanks Drew.
Also would be great to know the maximum Mickey Thompson ET Darg size that can fit. I'd suspect 26"x8.5" but I do not know for sure.

hoosier's smallest 16" full slick is 28x10x16 which are super tall.
26x9.5x16 pics on my web site (link in sig). and these are cheater slicks. they are not radials, and the only thing that makes them DOT is the two lines that are cut into them for "tread" lol.
do you even know what a plethora is?

Drew, excellent .. it was actually your car not Donovan's I was thinking of.
I didn't realise that the Hooiser QuickTime Pro DOT rubber is a slick .. what is the difference bwtween the Hoosier slicks and QT Pro then? Just the "grooves"?
So I was wrong, you CAN get a 16" full slick in hoosier .. but there's only one size available:
Hoosier full slick part number 18153 -> 28"x10"x16"
+ Tread width 10.0" (Can fit on rims 8"-10")
+ 28" tall and 88" circumference
+ Section width 12.0"
This slick is far too tall and wide to fit under an E36 or M Coupe
A really good choice for E36s in 16" rim would seem to be Drew's rubber:
Hoosier QuickTime Pro DOT part number 17430 -> 26"x9.5"x16"
+ Tread width ? (Can fit on rims 6"-8")
+ 26.1" tall and 82" circumference (VERY tight fit in wheel well)
+ Section width 10.0"

exactly. now there is only thing i am unsure of... since i had my fenders rolled a long time ago, i do not know if these require the fenders rolled or not. meaning if someone has factory fenders i do not know if they will touch as the sidewalls do bow out quite a bit. but if someone were to try it obviously fits with a slight fender roll.
do you even know what a plethora is?
Yep, a fender roll is nothing in the scheme of things. If you have gone to the trouble of buying a separate set of 16" wheels for drag racing and fitting up Hoosier rubber then a fender roll is a piece of cake.

My tires are equivilant to 26x10.5x16 and it fits fine, no rubbing issues, haven't ran the car with them but there seams to be a good amount of clearance when I load the car down. On stock suspension, untouched body.

Lots of great info.......but none that is related to my question. Any other stock 15" wheels that will work?
what wheels are you using? cause the wheel size and offset plays a roll in the fit as well.
oh and to be clear i cannot take full credit for this fitment!!!! i got the idea from CardCounter who did this fitment on his stock 16 inch 328 sport wheels first. i was the first to try with the slightly wider and lower offset contour reps but the general fitment was done by CC......

crappy 15" aftermarket wheels, calipers ground and lips rolled, I don't think any bigger tire will fit E36- 235/60/15
