    ABS module coding

Does anyone know a shop that can recode a ABS module for a 2002 330Ci in the Portland Oregon area? Someone besides the stealership.

any semi competent shop can do this in 2018. No really special tool necessary at this point just ask around your area.

I have. There is only one shop listed anywhere near where I live and they won't do it.

I've been calling BMW shops in the area and I haven't found one yet that will do it. That's why I posted this. I was hoping that someone in Oregon that has had it done was visiting this site.

I don't have a Bosch module, I have an Ate. This may be why Module Master said that this module was unrepairable. Doe these posts also apply to Ate modules?

There is a file attached to Post 8 in that link that covers how to code any ABS unit.

He thought it would work. He didn't say he had done it. That's a really important distinction. I'll still try it though I hate to have to buy a windows machine.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm in Portland Oregon and not Portland Maine. It would be a long drive.

Just wanted to post that I found a place in Portland who recoded the replacement junkyard module for $130. It has worked perfectly since the replacement. Although I was told here that modules are rarely the problem it sure was in this case. If you get the trifecta don't neglect to check the module with a proper scanner. Don't give up if you still have the dreaded lights.

The ABS modules do fail somewhat often. The internal seals fail and the brake fluid ruins the electronics. Otherwise module failures in general are rare though.

I realize that. The reason I posted this was both at this site as well as at E46 fanatics posters wrote that I should ignore the module being the problem even though I had posted the codes that indicated it was. I know they were probably trying to be helpful, but they could lead people looking here for help to ignore a real possibility. I want to assure people that this repair was one that could help solve the problem and to not ignore a possible solution.

Hey, could you point me in the direction of the shop that coded your ABS module replacement? I am going through the same situation you did with my E46. I am located in the Gorge area and haven't had any lock finding a shop that would do it for me. Any help will be extremely appreciated.
