Car is painted!
It will get a cut & buff and be on its way this weekend hopefully!
How much i need the same treatment done to my M3
"Lamborghini, the tractor maker, wanted to figure out why his Ferrari's clutch kept crapping out (PITA, cost a lot of money). He complained to Ferrari, and Enzo didn't do anything. Lamborghini discovered it was the same, much cheaper clutch used in his tractors. The rest is history..."
It's 75 per hour plus materials.
So I just read every post in this build.. and while everyone has so many positive comments (which you are most deservingly entitled to) and also sparks so many to be re-energized in their own often set back projects or builds.. Am I the only one that after reading this is like "well f*ck my pile of sh*t look at this guys work!!" hahahahahaha.. .
Mad props man, can't wait to see it finished

I have the car in my possession. Just ordered over $650 worth of new seals and whatnot for the exterior at cost. I have begun reassembling it in terms of putting on the body parts removed for paint/body work. I definitely have my work cut out for me. I'll post picture updates as they become available! About freakin' time!

Seals, moldings and whatnot! I am excited. I have never had all new exterior trim and whatnot. I have always been a big fan of making sure the door handle trim looks good as well as the foldout rear window seals, but never alllll the seals
More the next day:
Gas filler neck seal-thing :P
Got my AWESOME ellipsoid projector retrofit DEPOs from M3Alpine99/Markert Master. These have the TSX (?) projectors and the output looks amazing. I can not wait to get these all hooked up
The install is very clean and professional. I would not have a clue that they were modified by looking at them. Again, I am excited to see the output!!!!
More to come, as always...

are those lights on the fresh paint?
I don't put stuff on my beat to shit 18y/o comsos paint..
Just read through the post. Inspiring work considering i just took the plunge on my first bimmer; seeing the pain & pleasure going into the build makes me want to roll up my sleeves too...
Inspirational build Rob.
Did you really put those headlights and ballasts on the freshly painted trunk?! lmao
I made sure to slide them back and forth really good as well to help break in the paint.
I am actually probably going to have to get the car repainted again. Third time is a charm There are several things I am not 100% happy with, so do not worry. When the paint is right, nothing will touch it
what werent you happy with the 2nd paint job? Seems that no one ever gets satisfactory paint work done.
Love the build. Ill be coming back for more
Go to a shop that sprays candy paint for thugs. Solid white would be a walk in the park for them. Maybe take a trip down to florida to get it done. it seems like the further south you go, the shinier the paint gets.
This is why i painted my car myself. People just don't have the attention to detail i am looking for.
Everything else is going to be amazing on this car, sorry to hear about the paint issues.
I hope you drive it for a while after she is finished, lots of work going into this one.
The paint job would be fine for most people. I guess I just have high expectations. Despite the engine, trans, diff, and suspension on this car (lol), the intent is to "restore" it to the best factory condition possible. So basically, I want the body to be as factory as possible. I could easily toss back in another M50B25/G250 drivetrain, and non-M f&r suspension and have it be "original". I am excited to see how the paint will come out this third time. I just dropped the car off today, at WagenWorks of Atlanta. They were people I wanted to have paint the car originally, but I could never bring it by for a quote and I got sold by the other people. Again, dont get me wrong, the second paint job is not bad and I would possibly recommend him to others, just not for this level of detail.
I would love to see what I could sell this car for once I am done. Everything is going to be perfect. I almost want to even take it to some shops to ask them, "Can you find anything wrong with this car, and if so please let me know the price to fix it." Just so they can say, "This car is perfect!"
