Thanks
yea i know I remember speaking to you, M5James and BigM62 about it back when it was just a thought.
Thanks
Thanks
The MS is setup for wasted spark. Its not a problem for me tho most would argue sequential is better. Yes, so far i am loving this motor. I dont know it that well yet so with the aluminum block and such i am being rather careful.
The motor mounts were fabbed but very straight forward. I have some info for you or anyone that wants to do this swap, I will post it later with pics. Its something i didnt find out until i fitted the engine.
Thanks. more to come.
Im out of town at the moment (business turned vacation). I will post up more when i get back after new year.
To everyone Happy New year and more to come after!

Thanks, i just need to figure out the best way to get the drivers exhaust outlet to the front of the motor without it being lower than the oil pan if it's possible at all. I have no idea if you have more clearance than my E34 m60, and your atternator is water-cooled, right? Or did you swap in an aircooled m60 one?

So I'm guessing it's MS2/Extra then? That has to be a pretty elaborate setup for your coil drivers even for wasted spark.
I take it your injectors are setup four each on two banks?
Pretty awesome that you are doing this, I can't wait for the vids with sound!

Thanks for the pics, i really needed the manifold pics to decide on how i should build mine. These look pretty well designed.
I don't know if you already mentioned the size of the pipe on the manifold or not, if not then what is it?
If you don't mind me asking of course. I have a feeling that's about 1.75"ID, but just seeing what it really is.

I think maybe this is my new favorite thread!
It's a RAW build and I love it

subscribed, interested how one can turbo an M62...
HX52 is a 67mm comp, 71mm exhaust
Spacing under the heads isn't that great at all, the engine bay might be just a bit wider than the E30. Your layout should be very doable in the E34 bay.
It's going into an E34 540i/6 m60, somehow I think you have more clearance for the drivers side crossover pipe than I do, since the PS, Alternator, steering box, are all packed very tightly together in my car. I really want to do the front crossover pipe, so I might have get very creative on the routing, as going around the transmission is too long of a route and isn't as efficient in any way.
To save space, I'm thinking of just building log manifolds with 3 tees and 1 90 degree elbow on the ends near the fire wall.

I forgot you have a steering box. That takes up alot more space as appose to a rack n pinion. Your engine mounts are further towards the front than my fabbed mounts too. In any case, dont do t's if you go with a log. Try and do y's instead. It will make a big difference.
Im waiting to get my hands on a 540 one day and fab up something. This why im working to see what works for this motor.
I'll try the Y's first then, there should be at least enough space for them on the driver's side. The passenger side has a ton of room.
When is your car going to be up, ready, and tuned?

Im working on it. Right now its blocked in by snow. I have to get the harness back in. I need an oil cooler. The windows need to go back in. Little things but i have been so busy with other things in these hard times.
Im thinking about just bringing in a tuner but i would love to finish off the build by at least giving it a street tune myself.
Nice, the winter this year is a little crazy.

Nice work.
Shit that sucks about new york being a snow hog this year.

Thanks but this is one way i make ends although this particular car is being built in DIY fashion, Sweden style.
I am hoping to prove something with this build. Whether or not the aluminum blocks can handle a turbo app. I see no reason why not but most people find doubt without facts. Thats why im taking this on with a completely stock engine. Other than the fact i didnt want a Chevy in my car. Hopefully everything will go as planned and we will see the rise of the turbo BMW V8's.
Yea it does suck but in a way its keeping me grounded with this build. This is not something i want to rush at this stage. I pretty much dealing with the unknown so the snow days are helping pace myself and get things right. Hopefully by the end of the week i can have everything ready to get the car out when it clears up outside.

I am very curious, what kinda HP numbers are you expecting with this build? I would love to turbo the m62 in my 840ci!
looks good man
What i hope for is above 400 whp . Its set on spring pressure at 4.5 right now. I think this system is capable of making big, fat hp at fairly low boost but theres no way i can do this with a stock motor . Basicly what i have built is limited by the motor so i will go as far as i feel is safe. As is, it will make more power than the SC systems out there. What year is your 840?
One issue i have is the t66 turbo. It works better at 20+ psi and has very late spool characteristics. At this low of boost im hoping the v8 can get this turbo to perform the way it could. On top of that the turbo was carried over from my m30 which i had a split design so yea it has a twin scroll turbine .
Thanks.
