Well, there were 8 2001 740i Sport painted in an Individual color made for the US. Canada got a handful.

Another three had special upholstery.

Hoping it's one of those.

Only thing I can say is hopefully all the things that age are going to be replaced, as even if it has ultra low miles, age still takes it's toll and the youngest E38 is still 15 years old... Rubber bits might not be any good anymore. This is why I'd rather have a car that's done 10k miles per year than one that's done 10k miles in 15 years.

Look for rodent nests and spiders... lol!

Can't wait to see this project in the metal when it's done!

Ok, so Brandon is currently driving the car and can't post about the car, so he asked me to.

It's a 2001 740i Sport in Alpine on Sand/Beige with only 38k miles on it. The car is a FL car and was very well taken care of, but has a couple things that will need to be addressed as well. I'll let Brandon talk about those things when he gets to a point he can post. The car is in excellent shape other than those few minor issues though and it's going to be a great starting point for one of the nicest E38s built when it's all done.

He said it had 38,010 miles on it when he picked it up from the guy . He's going to get the car up on a lift when he gets to his friend's place tonight to take a look at the underside, but at about 8-9PM it will be picked up by the transport truck and sent on its way to me, where it'll be delivered tomorrow morning.

Well, until he gets online and posts some more updates as to how it drives and everything, this is what you get .

Wow that's one hell of a find. I thought your standard had to have black interior though? Will there be a black interior swap at some point? What was the purchase price if I may ask?

Hey guys, I'm not sure if Brandon wants me to post the price he paid yet, so I'll let him tell you guys, but it was an amazing deal.

As for the interior swap, it's still in the concept stage, but I think it's going to be some combination of my extended leather dash and console in caramel, upper dash in black, the seats in caramel with black plastics, black carpets, black seat belts, black lower b pillars, black door seals, black kick panels, black Alcantara headliner and probably rear parcel shelf as well. The door cards will be leather up front with the uppers in black and possibly the whole bottoms in caramel, except for black carpets on the pockets and black pockets on the insides.

Most of the black interior parts will be coming out of my e38, except for some of the extended leather parts I bought to put in my e38 and didn't. The caramel parts will be either my black parts dyed caramel, or original tan parts dyed caramel from the car.

The concept right now is still in flux, so stay tuned for updates from Brandon on whether or not he changes it from that. It's going to look sick though.

If it's a Florida car, then why bother shipping it to North Carolina? That's like an 8 hour drive, pretty quick and easy. And there's no better way (imo) to bond with a new car than by road tripping it. That's what I did with my 540i Touring, I drove it home from California with zero preparation.

He's shipping it to me to get the work started on the interior swap. He lives in Richmond, VA, so it's quite a bit longer of a drive on an unknown car that hasn't been driven much over it's lifetime.

He cleared me to say that he paid $7k for the car. Inorite?!

The seat and door card redying will likely be done by Redshift and his company Fibrenew in Raleigh and I'll be taking them up there to him. If you guys are wondering about him, he's the one that did my M5 seats in my 530i, so you can check out the work he did on those in my build thread. He does fantastic work and this one will be more of the same.
