I can see the ones you just posted from photobucket. I am a member at 8er.org, but I wasn't logged in, hence no photos. I logged in and the pictures did appear. Lots of folks on here are not 8er.org members, however (easy process, those of you who aren't, but it takes a day or so as an actual human vets the registrations...)

That is an amazing project for a car that deserves this kind of attention.

    Congratulations and good luck!

    Roger,
Small suggestion: push the fuel filler neck through the opening so that you can get 100% paint coverage inside the compartment. The rubber pieces can be easily pulled back through after the painting is done.

Hey Roger, Thanks for posting the pictures and letting us all know of your progress. I know you and Marcia both will be SO glad to have your baby all done. 'Can't wait for the the big unveiling. BTW, is that "bucket" seat a lightweight Alpina option? Ha!

Just spoke with Gary (owner of the shop doing the paint work), and everything is scheduled to start Saturday...Can't Wait! Hope to follow the process with photographs, and will keep the thread updated.

Will do Steffen. Gary is an excellent painter and I'm sure he knows all the tricks!

Here are some pictures I took yesterday when I took it to the painters. I ended up taking off the front bumper and the front air boxes. They are HUGE!

Here is Gary when I delivered the car. He is the owner of the shop, and does all the work himself. A Great Guy, and he is excited to be doing the Alpina.

    Updated 4/2/12

Received a call from Gary on Friday...starting the work on the car has been delayed until next week due to some issues with the car in front of mine (remember Gary is a very small shop), but he did send the wheels off to be refinished. He said they (all 5) arrived on Friday and look fantastic. Knowing how particular Gary is, I can't wait to see them. They were stripped, trued, Primed/painted/cleared in powder coat. Sorry..no pics yet, but can't wait to see them. I will send photos as soon as I get some from Gary.

No. Just the wheels are done. The work on the car was delayed until next week as there were some things to finish up on the car in front of mine. Gary's shop is very small, so they essentially do one car at a time. Mine is next in line, and is scheduled to start next week. Then, probably a couple of months on the paint. Gary's paint work is show quality, and has won best in class awards at several major shows, including the national Antique Automobile Club of America, Amelia Island, and major Hot Rod shows. He has a wall of large photographs (18" x 24 ") displaying award winning cars he has done. I hope the Alpina looks as good as they do. He has already said he wants to have it photographed for the wall.

Also forgot to mention that a new rear glass without the black loop in is has been ordered from Germany by Charlie at Gault.

Did you order one with the masking pattern for a US high stop light? Is that what you mean by without the black loop? Just curious which way you decided on that.
How come the middle half of any project always takes the most time?

Bill - I specifically ordered one without the blackout "U" shape on the US cars. Actually the euro glass (at least the existing one on the Alpina) has DOT printed right on it. Charlie (at Gault) and I researched it, and the one without the third light blackout is available in Germany, so we ordered one. I am going to continue to go with the LED strip you did, and incorporate it into the rear deck as it needed to be recovered any due to the foam deterioration. I'll send you a picture, as I hope to start on the rear deck in the next week.
