I recently noticed that quite a few people ask about shops in the Carolina area, so lets get this rolling..
1-Please indicate a shop that you have dealt with for at least 1yr or 20hrs of labor.
2-Include the shops' contact info and/or address.
anything else?
I highly recommend :
Complete Auto Center on Capital Blvd-Raleigh.....Ahmed and Andre REALLY know there german sh*t!! They never fail to impress. hourly rate goes for $55...and you can sometimes get deals on 10hr+ jobs!
I also recommend West German Garage-Cary...however i deal exclusively with Dimitry. Best thing is they keep tight schedules and are very professional. Rates are north of $70/hr. Last time I was there they had an AWESOME electrician (hungarian) who spliced and re-wired a complete heated mirror M5 harness all the way to the module!

Markert Motorworks in Clemson, SC.
Owned and operated by a buddy of mine who's been wrenching on roundels for several years. People go to him all the time for E30 24v swaps and other interesting goodies like that. He's the guy that I go to for work on my car and my girlfriend's car. His prices are the best I've found in the upstate and his work is solid.
Dave Markert is the guy's name...he's a member here on BF.C (328ijunkie) but I won't post his number unless he gives me the go-ahead.

I was just hired at this shop about 2 months ago and would recommend our services highly to the local bmw community. We do mostly general maintenance as opposed to modification/speed shop type stuff. We have multiple BMW master techs that can handle just about anything.
Feel free to PM with specific questions.

Around Hickory, NC we've tried a few different garages but were never satisfied until we found these guys. With Bess we couldn't be happier, highly recommended for anyone needing work/maintenance. We have tried the other german autoshops on Highway 70 but have never been happy. They always seemed shady but the owner of Bess is an honest man who wouldn't cheat you.

I don't have any personal experience with his work but I know him personally. He's a BMW racer and a great guy. His shop is in northern NC very near VIR.

I know he builds/modifies race cars and does performance upgrades on street cars. Not sure if he does normal maintenance work, etc. Give him a call.
If you speak to him let him know I gave you a nudge.

Very professional and courteous. Definitely good customer service. I'm new to BMW so I cannot rate the work yet, but they seemed competent, they explained everything to me before the work was done and he did some work without charging me for it. (My windshield washers were not working. I paid in advance. I called later and told him I forgot to add that to the request and he fixed it without adjusting the bill.)
I recommend.
Any suggestions for columbia??
Just got a 325i in Greensboro.
Any suggestions for a good mechanic in the Triad Area?
I've always had terrific experiences with West German Garage. On more than one occasion they have come back and told me work wasn't needed and saved me hundreds of dollars (which, of course, means I spend every penny with them). Dmitry and George are both good guys - I never worry about getting the straight scoop from them and they've always been very detailed.
MPowered in Cary also has a great reputation among the BMW guys around here, though I've never used them.
Can anyone recommend a good shop for E30 bmws around Greenville, SC?
I have been using Protech Motorsports for a couple years now.

Been happy with their service.
Mostly Porsches but also work on BMW.

Thanks for the tips!
Euro-Wise- charlotte ,nc --- great group of guys with good pricing on labor and parts
Touring Car- indian trail/matthews --- I go here 99% of the time for track inspections but they are also a great group of guys who know their stuff...the owner Dan is a fellow track rat as well as some of their mechanics
I do have one shop that everyone must avoid if you live in the waxhaw area....Autohaus of Union.....
these people are rude/don't know what they are talking about/and will rip you a new one for parts and labor
+1 for Dave at markert motorworks, the trip down to clemson is well worth it. If youre anywhere near greenville, I wouldnt consider going anywhere else. I have looked at at least 5 shops in the area. Bimmer Specialists in Greenville, SC are ok, but overpriced...
Is there any shops you guys know of that are reasonably priced to help me code my so that i can roll my windows up with the key just like i can roll all windows with the key. Any suggestions?
Raleigh area?
Johnson & Johnson Imports in Garner has the Autologic which can reprogram the windows and all the other "comfort" functions, as well as aligning a new DME, etc if you ever run into that.
They'll probably charge $80-100 to do it, but that's about what I'd expect anyone to charge since the Autologic unit itself is like $15k.
919-773-2314 Paul is the service advisor and a good friend.
Anyone use Brown Motorworks in Columbia? They have two shops here so im thinking that since they are family owned and have more than one shop they should be okay. Im gonna need an oil change and don't want to get raped at the stealership.
2010 Black C300 Sport Mercedes Benz
2008 Hellrot Zed 3.0i Sport (traded)
Can you repeat that because I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am?
I highly recommend the Digital Chassis in Durham, NC. I've dealt with them for almost 10 years now and they know their stuff. They focus on BMW and porsche and the owner is the porsche 928 expert on the east coast. However, they allown BMW's including a 750, e30, etc. They use the same diagnostic equipment as the dealer and use a laser alignment system for alignments. Very friendly guys who will do everything possible to make sure the job is done right. Best to stop by and talk to them since the owner and his assistants are usually working in the shop and there is no secretary to answer the phones. Address is:
