Hello, my E46 compact has the N42 1796cc engine. Upon starting the car it seems to rev itself. It's had a new throttle body but this hasn't cured the problem. It has always lacked acceleration/power. I changed the fuel pump a while back and the car drove completely differently it was flying I genuinely thought I was driving a different car but the day after replacing it, it was back to its old ways

Sounds like you might still have a fuel delivery or air intake issue. If the new fuel pump worked great at first but then the problem came back, it could be a bad fuel pressure regulator, clogged fuel filter, or an issue with the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. Also check for vacuum leaks — even a small crack in a hose can cause rough idle and poor power. A diagnostic scan might help narrow it down.
