Car has 69000 miles. I drive to golf alone and I get a shuddering when accelerating.(Not hard accelerating) Normally my foot is off the gas and I start to speed up. But when the car has two people and a full tank the shuddering in sever. As soon as I take my foot off the gas and the vibrating stops. Only when I am local driving and the car is heavy is when it is bad. Feels like transmission is slipping? First I thought it was the road…but dont think so.
Any Ideas? Not tire imbalance….
Driveshaft flex disk worn, carrier bearing, U joint. One of those
Thanks!
I would look at the engine . Bad coil? Maybe a tune up.
I had that issue when I first got my car. It would shudder as I accelerated. When I made right turns, the transmission would shift earlier than it should. I even tried putting the car in ignition mode, hold down the gas pedal for one minute to reset the transmission, but that didn't work. Since I have the GM transmission, I bought the Valvoline multi vehicle transmission fluid (red bottle), flushed out about 4 quarts and filled it with 4 quarts. The transmission has been great since. That was 20k miles ago. It's time for me to do it again, but this time I'm changing the filter.
For this model a failing ignition coil will cause this sensation, if you have a scan tool that incorporates a misfire counter then you can identify which coil is failing.
This can be duplicated by subjecting the vehicle to a high load by putting the gear lever in steptronic mode and upshifting to the highest gear while accelerating moderately.
If you do not have a scan tool then start by replacing all ignition coils.
