E30 trunk not closing, any opinions?

Good evening, I was just wondering if anyone has run into the same issue that I have run into recently,

I’ve done some good research and I can’t seem to find anything on the forums/YT

I own a 1990 325IS and the trunk isn’t closing properly, the receiver is working perfectly but however the metal latch is loose and it won’t close properly, it has about an inch of play when closed.

first check the bottom lock and make sure it is secure. you may have to remove the trunk trim and cover to inspect. it can be adjusted there as well.
there are three main positions on the top catch for adjustment. factory is the center position, but things can change over time or if there has been any body work.

Mine just has a nut you can spin on the trunk latch, it's always loosening up over time, hopefully you can just adjust the nut which effectively reduces the length of the latch to get a tight fit.
