As I have stated before, I measured an inch from top dead center of the steering wheel, each way before the wheels moved. After I upgraded the steering shaft, when the steering wheel moved, the wheel moved. It does make a difference.

Now that Hoyt has road-tested the "Clagwell", I might get impatient and make one. (I don't think it's patent-infringement if I just make one for myself). I've recently replaced ball joints and sway bar end links, so now I (think I ) notice the play in the steering. I'm not sure because the car is so much quicker-responding than any other car I've owned, yet I play with the wheel and think it could be tighter.
The Clagwell is patent free. Aluminum is easy to work. I used a coping saw for wood to cut it to shape and cleaned it up with files.

Try this with your steering. Turn the wheel quickly back and fourth an inch or two while driving at speed. You will definately notice a rubbery response. The poly coupler eliminates that.
