Hello!
New here and new to BMW in general, lol.
2014 740i
When I got the car and the door locks would not work with the fob or the center lock. I had to lock/unlock manually.
Checked #14 fuse and found it blow. Someone had switched to 20amp fuse at some point vs the original 15amp fuse its supposed to have.
Installed new 20amp fuse (didn't have a 15amp fuse in the shop) and have the following results:
Center lock button unlocks all doors
Center lock button locks all but drivers door (front left, im in the US)
Fob unlocks all doors
Fob locks all but drivers door
Have to lock driver door manually. All other doors will lock with either the Center Button or the Fob
Soft close works on all 4 doors and comfort access works on Drivers door.
My determination is Driver door lock actuator (or wiring to it) is bad and thus what burned the fuse.
I looked online and see Dorman makes them but they make one with a motor and cable attached to it and one without.
Trying to figure out if I need to buy the actuator with or without the motor.
One other thing i noticed last night is sometimes the driver door opening does not turn on the interior lights, sometimes it does. All the other door turn on interior lights every time they are opened.
What part would I need to replace to fix this?

Thank you in advance

I also think the issue might be with the driver's door lock actuator or its wiring, which probably led to the fuse blowing. You'll likely need to swap out the driver's door lock actuator. Whether you go for the motorized or non-motorized version really depends on how BMW set up the system for your 2014 740i. If your current actuator is combined with the motor and wiring, it's best to get the motorized version for a straightforward replacement. However, if your actuator lets you replace the motor separately, you could save some cash by just getting the actuator.
Thank you for your reply.
I agree with you.
I see online that for the passenger door they make a complete assembly with actuator and motor all together and that they also sell the two separate.
But for the driver side they only sell the actuator itself. I cant find the whole things together (meaning the actuator and the motor).
BMW dealership told me that I had to buy it all together (motor and actuator) and that I cant just swap the actuator.
Any idea if this is true or do I need to find the whole assembly?
