When that type of error happens when clicking back after reading it means that the FA entry has issues or compatibility problems.

Do you have the same exact FA in both modules CAS and Kombi etc?

How to Fix FA/VO Errors and Understand "#", "&", "%", "*" in BMW VO — Solving COAPI-1000: Fehler

    Hey everyone,
I want to share something super valuable that I figured out with the help of ChatGPT after 3 days of deep work — and believe me, no one explains this properly on any forum!
So if you're struggling with COAPI-1000: Fehler, wrong VO/FA, or "wrong chassis" showing up in NCS Expert, this post is for you!

    Problem I faced:
    - Wrong VO/FA on an E93 (showed wrong chassis, wrong options, and bad checksum).
    - COAPI-1000: Fehler when trying to code anything in NCS Expert.
    - Wrong platform (chassis) like E60 showing up when it was actually an E93.

    Solution & Explanation of "#", "&", "%", "*" in VO:
When you look at the VO/FA line in NCS Expert or similar tools:

    E93_#0909&WL71%LCD3*NB11$205$217$249$302...

These special symbols have specific meanings:

Symbol | What it means | Example
    -------|--------------------------------------------|---------
    # | Production/Build Date | #0909 (September 2009)
    & | Platform, Region, Series-specific code | &WL71 (variant of E93)
    % | Color/Interior/Trim Code | %LCD3 (e.g., leather/trim package)
    * | Vehicle Type/Model Variant Code | *NB11 (model version, engine/gearbox)

After that, you see the normal option codes: $205$217$249... (SA options).

    Important:
    - If any of these symbols or codes are wrong or missing, especially the "*", "&", or "%", you will get a COAPI-1000: Fehler checksum error and possibly wrong chassis detection!
    - You need to make sure these match what the car originally had from the factory.

Example of how I solved it:
    - I compared a working FA/VO from another correct car (E60).
    - I analyzed each piece and realized what was missing or incorrect in the broken E93 FA/VO.
    - I rebuilt the FA line manually, correcting all symbols based on what I learned and confirmed with ChatGPT!

    Example of corrected FA:
    E93_#0909&WL71%LCD3*NB11$205$217$249$302...

Extra Tip — How to Find the Correct FA/VO for Your Car:
Whoever wants to check the correct FA/VO for their own car, can visit websites like bimmer.work.
    - Enter your VIN.
    - Go to the "Vehicle" tab to find specific information about your car, including correct options, trim, and model codes.
    - Use that data to rebuild or verify your FA/VO if you suspect something is wrong or has been modified incorrectly before!

    Result:
    - No more COAPI-1000: Fehler.
    - Car is correctly recognized as E93.
    - Coding works perfectly!

    Conclusion (TL;DR):
If you see a bad FA/VO, check those symbols carefully:
    # — Production date.
    & — Platform/region code.
    % — Interior/trim/color.
    * — Model/vehicle type code.

Also, compare with a working FA/VO from the same chassis/model to spot mistakes!
And check bimmer.work to get the factory-correct FA/VO for your VIN!

Solved by myself and ChatGPT after 3 days of non-stop work — I hope this helps many people who are struggling with "COAPI-1000: Fehler"!
