It far from perfect, but it's good so I can drive and it doesn't have to be garage queen.
Still wanna paint rockers, lower part of the bumpers. I found seat that is in good condition since mine has some tear. Also found armrest. I got new front right fender since current is rusty. Friend is also trying to sell me m54b25 to put it in the engine bay![]()

Little bit of seat work done. Changed upholstery from the new seat to my cars own frame.
These I got to figure out what to do. Still gotta find drivers door panel from somewhere and interior would be close to mint.

Got ac refilled week ago and it's working. Lifters started failing and it's at the point that they are ticking pretty much all the time with warm engine so parked it in garage and ordered new lifters.

Picked up the refinished wheels (with fresh tires) for my 91 M5. They are looking good as new!

Awesome! Can't beat that look. What tires did you get (brands and size?)
Tires are 235/45-17 Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus (that’s a mouthful). First time buying all season tires - all my other cars are on summer tires, track tires or dedicated snow tires but this being a 33 year old large sedan with pretty soft suspension and intended for cruising more than high speed runs, I thought I’d give them a try.
The car is still in maintenance until the end of next week so I won’t get to mount and try them out for a couple of weeks either but I bet there will be a big improvement from all the refreshed suspension/control arms/bushings, new brakes (had a bit of pedal pulsing under braking and they needed replacement anyway), freshly balanced wheels and brand new tires. I have had the car for a couple months at this point but haven’t driven it that much because it needed (IMO) a bunch of things so it has been slowly getting all the fixes and improvements done. When done it should be a meaningful improvement.
My E39 daily popped its radiator (again) so I've been taking the E34 out for daily use again and just generally falling in love with it again.
I've bounced between an E34 and an E39 a few times in the last few years, it's remarkable how different the cars feel despite being relatively close together in age. The E34 feels like a very refined old car, whereas the E39 feels like the beginning of a modern car. E39 is way quieter on the highway, but also feels more numb in terms of handling and the whole car feels heavier (because it is). There's a reason I keep coming back to the E34, I'm currently on my 10th one.

Some small bits of repair welding underneath the sill covers necessitated most of the interior removal so while it was out I dug out the E34 heated seat looms and switches I bought years and years ago and fitted some heating elements to the back seat bench. Welding done, metal treated, painted, and undersealed; sills and some inner front wing areas cavity waxed. Heated seats in and tested.
The glass tailgate had started getting glitchy - it would open once then lock again, then not open for some time after - perhaps 5 or 10 minutes. I guessed at the solenoid and after a £5 replacement entire mechanism from the bay of dreams it arrived, I tested it, I replaced it and tested the original off the lock and it has just got lazy - it opens for a second, then closes and stays sleepy for a while. It works now and I shall pick up another to make sure I have a working one in stock.
