That your 530? Or the Freddie Kruger car?

Oh that’s right, your original one was a 525, for some reason, I was thinking it was a 530.

Made life a little easier on myself, and my girl-picked up four wheel dolly’s for the ‘02 e39 M62 so we could utilize all (or I should say “more”)
garage space.
On sale at Harbor freight.
Did a positioning “test run” before removing the adhesive on the back of those protection strips.
Happy holidays everyone!

Hey man, those dollies are for moving cars around, but not for leaving the car sitting on them, they will imprint the bars on your tires and the will be worse than having flat spots on the tires if not driven like a daily.

After you've moved it, just drop it back on the floor and leave the dollies in place. If you wanna move the car again, just jack it up again, and that way, you won't damage your tires

Thanks guys. Not my first rodeo.
Yes, of course. Tires are sitting on the garage floor.

I added a bottle of Liqui Moly Ceratec to my crankcase - I presently have Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40 in my engine. I have 1,888 miles on this oil.
I didn't do an oil change first, but I did first change the oil filter and o-rings. I also extracted 300ml of oil from the oil filter housing. I ran the engine for about 2 minutes, then added the 300ml Ceratec.
I did not immediately notice any difference that I could not put down as wishful thinking. But two days later while on the highway with 20 miles on the Ceratec I inched forward on the throttle to pass someone and there was a moderate, noticeable improvement in pickup, enough to startle me. The engine also idles quieter, making the ticking from the injectors at idle more noticeable.

I drove the crap out of the E39 the past few weeks, took it to New Mexico and then to LA. 320k miles now, no complaints after doing a ton of triple-digit driving.

Swapped out the puny i6 front calipers and rotors on my silver surfer wagon to the larger ones off of my old 540. Not bad, only took me a couple of hours and a few beers. They look so small side by side.

Finally got around to see why the washer pump stopped working. I figured it was from lack of use as it hardly ever rains here. The motor was siezed. I tried to power it in both direction with 24 volts to see if I could get it running, no dice. None at the local dealer but O’Reilly had some in stock, only $15.
Turns out it was a URO pump and it worked!
Got the front 2 wheel balanced to see if that would eliminate the random shake that only happens on roads that aren’t in great shape, speed doesn’t matter, it just comes and goes. I did replace the traction strut bushings less than 7K miles ago with BMW parts. All the other joints seem tight.
Might have to shotgun this one. The steering wheel doesn’t shake back and forth but I can feel something ain’t right.
Struts are a year old and it was aligned after I did the struts.

Not my 540i, it is my son's 986 Boxster, rodents made a love nest on top of the engine beneath the intake manifold and chewed up the wire to the knock sensor, has to remove the alternator to repair the broken wire:

Yeah, it was like 52 but cloudy, I knocked it out on my driveway, it wasn’t too bad. Those were those new rotors you gave me a couple of years ago! Brakes work great now. My brake fluid had gotten neglected, bled out the rears too so it felt good to knock all that out today. Again, thanks for those rotors!

great idea... wish I had thought of that. Unfortunately, mine have all been enjoying life in SE Wisconsin for way longer than I care to admit.
On the 528i , I can’t figure out why the coolant in the coolant reservoir moves up and down while the engines at idle / operating temp ….?
Coolant will go real low in the expansion tank , then raise after a minute or two , bubble over real fast , then go real low again …
Air in the system ?
