I tried to search online but can not find a answer...let me explain how it started...
A friend of mines said to me not to long ago...if i added software (which i did) and hit the DTC button. my car will be good to drag and beat most cars on the street.
I dont understand what happens when i click DTC..a light comes on, and that's about it...I know it means dynamic traction control? or digital traction control? but what does it do in a drag race? is this even necessary?
Or did my friend not know what he was talking about...i drive a auto 335i btw.

When DTC is on, your traction control is on. This means you can have slight tire spin off the line. However, if you hold the button down, then both traction and stability control will be turned off. In a drag race, if you decide to shoot off the line with DTC engaged, you'll have slight wheel spin but your engine power will be cut off until your tires hook the asphalt. If it's completely off, then your tires will keep spinning and spinning because no engine power will be cut.

By default car is in dtc mode when started. Press the button for just a sec and let go. Now you have turned off dsc. Dashlight comes on. Push and hold the button for 3 sacs or more and you'll see the dashlight change. Now you have turned off "traction control". You can now do donuts, burnouts, drifts, etc. If you run in what I will dumb down to "middle" mode you can spin the tires but the car will keep you from completely spinning the car around. Try it on a muggy rainy day at low speeds. You don't need to mash the throttle. There are tons of country roads around where I live.
Of course on a closed course!

Sorry wrong again.
Mode #1: By default, DTC is OFF. Full traction control and DSC functionality are ON and the computer will intervene rather aggressively allowing little wheel spin or sideway action.
Mode #2: Push the DTC button once quickly and DTC is engaged (DTC ON), which is a more sporty (dynamic) mode of DSC (which is still on along with traction control). In this mode it allows a bit more wheel spin and sideway action.
Mode #3: If you push and hold the button for 3+ seconds, DSC and all traction control functions are off. You can burn rubber all day long and do donuts if that is your thing.
Braking functions (ABS, ABD, etc) are not impacted in either mode.

Now which mode is best to use when having a street race? I tried mode 2 and I feel it was best. Any suggestions?

We do not condone street racing here, so since the answer to the original question should be clear now, I will lock this thread.
