I decided to add e46 flares to my car also. I want to run 285/30/18 tires on all four corners.
New tires with stock fenders
Before 255 NT01
Nicely done! I take it on the rear, you also cut out the inner fender? Did you stitch the remaining inner and outer sheet metal back together or leave it alone?
Also, are this 18x10 or 10.5 Arc-8s? They fit well under those fenders and I need a 2nd set.

This is definitely on my dream list of things to do to my e36.
Thats good work. What kind of underpanel is that?

Nice work and awesome car!
Nice job Mas, are you doing the work yourself? Do you have any more pictures of how the inner wheel well was re shaped?
Thanks cant wait to be back at the track.
I will take a few pictures next week.
I have a friend doing the work at his body shop.
Front fender with 1st coat of primer
My rear now fits the 285 tires good. The e36 m3 should of came this way from BMW.

Looks clean..nice work on the flares. It is also on my list of mods for my e36 but it may have to wait a few years as I have other stuff to take care of first.
Looks good and I can't wait to see the rest of the progress!
Couldn't do E46 M3 flares? PU$SY!. I keed I keed. Came out great. Subtle and not overdone. The black ARC-8s look great on your car.

wow, was considering dforces at one point but after seeing these comparison pics, I don't see how I ever could :O
how do the 18s effect performance? I read in apex's group buy forum that they may make a 17" with concave but if that never happens, I just can't do with the flat faces of the 17's, it looks horrible imo, it may be okay for the front if your staggered, but the rear needs the concave! Looks so much more aggressive, especially with 285's
nice, very interested in after paint pics...could you take some from behind and at an angle as well?
To really get the benefit you have to cut the inner fender layer as high as the out metal. We removed the shock and spring and bottomed the tire up into the fender to check clearance. You can sort of see where we had to cut slices in the inner fender to alter the arc. Much more work but allows the lower ride height with room for compression. In the one shot of the tire there is still around 1 1/2" above the tire until it rubs.
A few videos to hold you over until paint. I plan to take the car out to Thunderhill on the 27th.

I will take picture of the underside next week, I have alot of room. I took my springs out so I could check for clearance.

The original version of the fender mod is documented here.

The picture below shows the new version of the front fenders I made last winter. The 285's stick out so much it I wanted to aero cover them and blend them into the front end I made. They are all steel. I'm going to some similar aero mods the rear fenders. Sorry for the thread jack but not far off topic!
