E36 M3, how to tell what gears are in it?

Hi all, I have a 97 E36 M3 that I'm parting out. I've removed the rear suspension and am preparing it for sale, does anyone know how I can tell what gear set came in the car? It's a 5spd Sedan...

    Thx,
    Josh

    3.23 final drive (assuming it's stock). http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=15

You could just read the tag on the diff...

Or you could turn the input shaft and count the # of turns of the drive flange.
No matter where you go, there you are...

Didn't see any info on the tag...not quite sure how to calculate via turn/rotation, but don't need to since the car is stock and info obtained above.

    If anyone's looking for a 3.23, here's a link:

Turn the output shafts once, count how many times the input shaft spins. No calculation necessary.

If your car was a manual it was a 3.23. If it was a automatic it was a 3.38 which would also mean the car is a sedan. But just in case someone happened to change it out check the tag or count the number of turns.
