Anyone have ideas of why my trunk release is not working? the remote and the inside release will not open it. I can only open it with the key. I searched and seen something about if the key slot in the trunk is horizontal then its been locked so valets can't get in. the solution was to turn the slot so its vertical.. only problem is that I can only move the key clockwise down to open the trunk then it goes back to horizontal.. it won't let me turn it vertically and have it stay that way.
Any ideas?
Forgot to add I have a 2004 330 CIC if that makes any difference..

This is a convertible? If your glove box is locked with the master key, then the trunk lock is disconnected from the central locking system, according ot the owners manual. You can download a copy of the owners manual from the parked thread called "useful threads".
I'm not really worried about getting into my trunk. More about getting out. I hate it when the "stuff" I stash in there gets out. Especially last night, I had to chase her... I mean "it" down the street then hit "it" with a baseball bat. THEN put it BACK into the trunk. I tell ya what sometimes it can be a PITA.
That's in a different thread. The "How do you disable the emergency trunk release?" thread. Thanks for the laugh though.
Yeah i hit them before but they seem to wake up from my "spirited" driving. I also try not to hit them too hard. Then they get blood on my carpet.
lol burlap bags. As a hitman/serial killer/ apprentice machinist I don't make enough to buy burlap bags. The baseball bat about put me into the poor house! lol
Check the wiring harness from the trunk to the body. The hooker might have chewed through some of the wires. This is why I only put dead hookers in my trunk... that, and I have a hatchback.
but dead hookers get cold too fast . Knocked out hookers stay nice and warm And besides, they can't chew my wires I knock their teeth out with the bat then duck tape their mouth keeps 'em quiet
thanks 2mbb for the response.
Yes it is a convertible. My glovebox isn't locked so that doesn't seem to be the issue..
any other thoughts, this just happened all of a sudden the rest of the keyless remote functions are working fine
If you can't mechanically twist the key (counterclockwise, I think?) into a vertical position, perhaps something is broken inside the lock cylinder?
ok, trunk issue has gotten worse, today I checked my trunk and now in addition to the key being the only way to open the trunk, now the trunk won't latch when closed. I just bounces and the trunk light will stay on..
Do you think its the lock cylindar that is broken? How would I know if its that or the wiring harness?
