Thanks Rdecode! Will give a try.
You guys are awesome for helping so many people out. I, too, had to get a new battery and have now been driving without tunes for a week. I'd sure appreciate it if someone could please help break the silence!

Edited to Add: Reading over the previous entries, you'll probably need the model info on the side as well. I'll get that and post it ASAP. Thanks! -C
Okay, I now have the complete information.
Here's what was written on the sticker on the top side:
BMW Business CD
6512 - 6 909 884
BP0273 2 9965281
FD062 Index 45
If anyone is able to please help me determine the 5-digit code, I'd surely be a happy gal. Many thanks! -Clover

Hello Rdecode,
I got an Alpine system on the 99 BMW and I am in code wait because I got a code from the dealer and it didn't work. I thought Alpine had only one code. Could you help?
Alpine C43
S/No: AL 8BDU W 07 23285
The code I got from the dealer was 21113. Can you let me know if this is correct? If not can you give me the correct one? Thanks.

I would PM you guys, but this is my first post. My dad just gave me his Z3 2.8 for getting my LVN license. I have a lot of good things planned for this car, but first I wanna get the radio to work! Please & thank you!
When I hold down the 'M' button, it says: SN XXXXXXXX
It's an Alpine head unit
MODEL NO. C33 DIN US
P/NO. 65. 12-8 380 233

Sorry, I am able, but I no longer supply free codes for BMW Alpine units (and others as well)

I broke down and called the local BMW dealer here in Austin. Gave the guy in the service dept the S/N and he cranked out a Radio Code within less than a minute. I was a little dubious after having read this thread, but punched it in and ... IT WORKED! HOORAY

So...I disconnected the battery last night. Wife had to take car to our BMW dealer today anyhow, so asked her to have them give her the radio code while she was there.
1. they had 3 people working on this for 45 minutes to an hour
2. they had a heck of a time getting the serial number using some device they hooked into the cigarette lighter outlet (wth?? apparently they do not know about the programming mode)
3. they put in the code they obtained and put it in "wait" mode (have to wait an hour to clear) -- they told my wife she would have to bring it back Monday, they would need to put it in the service bay, hook it up to something, and contact BMW to get the code
4. my wife asked if we could get the code when they obtained the correct one -- they said, "sure, but you won't be able to do anything with it since you need the device to hook up to the cigarette lighter to key it in"
She tells me all this when I get home. I spend two minutes on the boards, read about the "Radiopass Card" that comes with the vehicle that has the code on it, spent another two minutes going out to the car, finding the card in the owner's manual packet, keyed in the code using the channel programming keys (not some special device) and voila! working radio. Bimmerforums folks to the rescue again
