    Hey There,

Just bought a 2008 328i I believe e93 since it is coupe convertible. It has 114k miles and was wondering what I should be expecting to repair in the near future. Only one owner who lived in a smaug test state so it has been examined annually and the engine seems great at the moment.

I love this car, but being my first BMW, I've spent a lot on it.

    Bought new from dealership:

    Year:
    2009
    Type: E90
    Model: 328i
    Miles: 120,000KM
    Major problem(s):
    1. Burning oil from day one (I don't think this is normal)
    2. Engine piston lifters had to be replaced at around 60,000Km, total job cost ~$4500. Luckily covered before warranty ended. (common problem for few models manufactured around 2009 year, manufacturing defect as stated by BMW). This helped reduce oil burning as I don't have to top it up as often.
    3. Hood latch/cable failure (quoted ~$900, luckily fixed by private mechanic for $20 after the hood opened up one day by chance)
    4. AC stopped working completely, quoted ~$3500 evaporator fix. (just recently)
    5. Drive belt replacement $500 (just recently)
    6. Seat leather crack (replaced under warranty), about 2.5 years later seat leather cracked again (same place)
    7. Trunk strut broke (just recently)

Make no mistake, the quality is just not there, and any long term BMW owner that I've known (2 other owners) have had similar experience and associated costs.

Yes the car still drives good. Would I buy it again? Probably not, it would be shame not to buy a Tesla or Benz (at least the problems would feel new if similar).

Looks like most posts in here are pretty old. Looking for some feedback on 2010-2013 E90 328i's with higher miles?

Those cars are so cheap now that I'm looking at picking one up as a DD for my wife. I used to have the e36 2.8 engine and apart from the Vanos and water pump, it was solid. Probably getting one with 50-60k mi.

Just bought a 2007 328i with 269,145 miles! It has plenty of little minor issues that I am starting to take care of.

    Here it is:

had this little shitbucket since Christmas
lets call him Karl for simplicity
Karl is as squeaky as a mouse. He's gonna need a transmission rebuilt within a year. He needs new front tires. He's got a 16 inch crack along the top of front windshield.
He recently got a new starter, battery, and fuel pump.
He loves to randomly stall and die in the middle of the road and claim vehicle electronics failure but he turns back on after 5 minutes.
He is gonna need an oil change and fuel injector cleaning sometime soon.

He makes me feel bad most of the time. He is kinda an asshole.
This is my first car and I’ve never had more problems in my life until I got this car lol.

    Not uncommon.
This happens when you buy something where the original owner did not address issues as they came up.
You inherit all the issues they saved up and dumped on the next person.
A PPI by a dealer or good indi likely would have caught most of the upcoming requirements.

Like you, I didn't know about the common stuff, or do a valid 3rd Party PPI - I bought this '08 335i supposedly with no issues. One month in, second transmission. Valve cover gasket, oil cooler rings, oil filter housing gasket, oil pan gasket, Injectors, Ignition coils, spark plugs, tires, rims, alignment... most of this is common approaching this age for this car - I've done all this and much more in the last year.

Later model E90 328i and PPI is a must for me. I don't *need* a car, so plenty of time.

3rd owner, owned the the car since December 2018, purchased with 125k, with new brakes and a new battery. Changed the oil 3,000 miles ago. Haven’t had any real issues until last weekend when my water pump went. Hoped it had already been done but I was ready for it. Only other minor inconveniences are my passenger running light burning out, and an occasional rattle at idle (fairly certain its the heat shield).
