One thing I notice about a lot of tourings, is a nasty tail pipe.
Mine was like that when I got my touring.

There's no need for it to remain like that, though.

    1. Its stainless steel - you can polish it or brush it to a nice luster with sand paper, steel wool and/or scotchbrite pads. or

    2. BMW sells nice tip covers for the car - one in chrome and one in black. Just slide it on.

Cleans-up the rear of the car quite nicely . . .

Hey guys! Im having a problem, I can't get into my trunk to recharge the battery...as the battery is allready dead. Is there a button that operates a mechanical linkage?

    Thanks for the help!
By the way, Im loving the wagons in here! I normally don't like all-black, but the blacked-out wagon is beautiful!

You could always get other tips, as well, wouldnt have to be BMW's...unless the BMW tip has the logo on it?

you can do it up front too... there is a point in the hood... mine is next to the intake manifold and the ground is next to the strut mount

It is SO easy to ruin a car with the wrong cheap aftermarket tip... getting BMW is just safer
    Yes, it's a 6-speed Touring...

The BMW tip cover is made to perfectly fit the tip in terms of diameter and the angle cut. Looks like an integral part of the tail pipe when mounted, not a mere slide/bolt-on "tip cover". Looks much nicer than the stuff one might get at a pepboys or other auto parts store. But, yeah, the options are endless.

I certainly don't doubt this, but there is no BMW dealer in my city. So if I order something in and dont like it, then I have nowhere to bring it back.

Any pics of said BMW tips?

Great thread... and when someone is ready to sell their 540iT, PM me Ok, so it's more long term than short term for buying one. My fiance has to get her 335i first... then I can get my 540iT

    I really want a 540iT one day.

You can buy a Magnaflow for around US$110 then installation only costs around NZ$80 over her... They sound great.

You can see the black tip (albeit dirty and from a distance) on my car (post 143).

I will be getting rid of it shortly, as I am going with a weld-on tip that better matches/fits the M-tech rear bumper.

The leather is light gray. The light coming through the tinted windows gives them a greenish blue tint sometimes.

That is a good idea, I never really thought about polishing the tip. Sound like a easy weekend project.

    Amazing waggons guys. Here's mine

"80% of drivers are just numb and piddling through the day.. point A to B at exactly the speedlimit with both hands on the wheel with the seat all the way up with their mouth agape and in a constant state of mindless commuting. That is a difference with .. well most .. bimmer drivers. Most of the time they are *enjoying* their cars and really driving them when they can." - agentrnge
