Hi BaltimoreBimmer,
Welcome to the E39 Touring club!
We need some details on the car itself too mate! year, miles mods, plans for mods etc etc!!
Cheers! Dennis! West London UK!
I just finished my subframe bushing swaps with the help of a local member. Thanks Austin.
But now I want to tackle my lighting problems. I have the celis tails minus the ballast ready for the retrofit. I tested them the other day and they do give me a bulb out warning. Can this be over written? Also my brakes and turning signal go off the same time.
I puchased a 528it 5 speed auto couple months back now.
Spec; 1997, 111k, glacier green, black leather, standard throughout.
I intend on upgrading the standard headlamps to angel eyes, as well as fit some sportier alloys. Given the touring glacier green was thinking maybe going with black alloys rather than silver. What do you think? I havent seen to many glaciers on the forum to decide. would appreciate some advice.
Thanks for now.
?
Today I upgraded the oem headlamps and put some Depo's with a Hid kit, gives the car a fresh look and visibilty is much better too.
I still havent decided with what alloys to put on the car I do like the ac schitzer but not sure.
any ideas? what would go well with glacier Green.

I figured I'd try the decal's for little while to see if I like them.
hood is cf. No paint yet. Someday it'll be white. (I backed into the car with my truck, and a cf hood was cheaper than getting another hood and having it painted...) Thank you Joe @ Eurodyne ;-)
I have less than $600 invested in the 19" wheels (Breyton's) and tires (General's)...May go to 18's next time...Just have to wait and see... The stock 16's are just too small...

I agree, it is gorgeous! Your's is 'bout like it, Headlights, grill surrounds & wheels. Your's would look even better since you have the windows tinted. That's about all I have left that I really want to do to mine (window tint). An M front bumper someday, but that'll require paint, so it a LONG ways off (unless I back into it again )
Thanks. It is lowered ~1.5" from stock with B&G springs. The rear springs were SO worn out that it only dropped .25"!!! I've just done a little test drive (over lots of bumps and getting out of my steep driveway), but I don't think its going to rub. My alignment is getting done Sat., and then I'll take it for a real drive . Tires are 245/35R19 I believe. I have no idea what width the rims are...
Hi Rc5695,
I also have a white Touring (see earlier in this thread!) and have a vinyl roof wrap with a carbon fibre effect print - I was toying with the idea of getting the CF bonnet/hood but decided against it. Here in the UK, cars with 'black' tailgate/trunks and/or bonnets/hoods are usually Taxi's. Plus, the 'black stripe' would also look a little like a 'Skunk' ! - instead, i'm saving pennies towards putting the white Carbon Fibre D1 NOC (I think that's the product code!) vinyl wrap over it. As my leading edge of the bonnet is stone chipped to hell - 200,000 miles, I can cover it up and have the CF 'look'
I also run 19 inch wheels, the correct sizing is 245/35/19 Fronts and 275/30/19 rears. This gets to as close as possible the rolling radius of the original 225/60/16 (I think!) tyre sizing. Some people go 265/30/19 on the rears. With 275, you will need some slight wheel arch modification to clear and not rub. That said, I've lowered mine on H&R springs and only on real rough roads or a bigger than usual dip will i get a quick 'chirp' of a rub. Some tyres are designed to go 'inwards' at the top with their shape, others are more 'square' so that can have a difference.
Any other plans for your car?!
Cheers, Dennis! West London UK!
Tinted windows & someday an M front bumper...but that's quite a ways off. When I get the bumper I'll have the hood painted too.
When you run the wider tires in back, don't you get any "pushing" of the front end in fast turns? I like running the same size all around. Then I can rotate them too.
Hiya
Rc5695 - I suppose you would or could get what you refer to, I've personally never experienced it as unless you go around hoofing it in your car everyday and know the 'feel' of your car on the limits or pushing them, you'd never really get to say 'oh, it must be because I have 2/3 sections wider tyres on my rears than on my fronts' - I do understand that is subjective to each individual driver of course!
The sizes I've put up are the correct sizing to maintain the rolling radius - thus keeping the speedo reading as accurate as possible.
Are your Breytons the genuine items or are they replica's? I can't wait to tint my car - still saving as it's double price price, need to scrape off the clear anti smash film the Police put on first!
Cheers, Dennis! West London UK!
As far as i know, they're the real deal. The centercaps say Breyton on them, and they have Breyton cast into the back of the spokes. They're pretty light too.
I was planning on having it tinted as a Christmas present for my wife, but pregnancy complications have more than eaten up the money I was going to spend
first off, another warm welcome to the many new tourings that have posted! love seeing all of you here.
and i found this on the m5board....alpina subforum. drool.
Slowly making its way into an actual car again... Front M bumper installed but haven't put on the center mesh grill, ExoticsTuning Carbon Fiber M Front Lip Spoiler & ExoticsTuning Hamann Style Fog Light Covers.... Rear M bumper installed missing ExoticsTuning Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser... No trim installed or anything... And no, those are not the actual wheels the car will be on...
She got new thrust arms today. Smooth as glass at last.
