I'm not done with mine but I thought I'd post a progress shot.
When I picked it up about a year ago:
After I fixed the rear suspension and cleaned up the headlights. Note the dead paint on the front bumper. The rear was actually worse. The front bumper was badly torn in the front (previous owner must have had an affinity for hitting curbs). I drove like this for a long time.
I didn't intend on putting much into this car since it's the utility car. The idea was a car that I could haul my hobby stuff (R/C sailplanes), mountain bike and snowboard in without giving a care. I have other cars to sink time and money into, but since this is the daily I thought it should look reasonable (since I'm in it quite a bit). In the last 2 months I've done BC coils front, koni sport rear shocks, lowered rear with INPA + links, black kidneys, shadowlined, clear corner light, DJ auto headlights w/ Hella Evo-R retrofit (very easy DIY), M5 replica bumper, repainted rear bumper, m5 moldings (I'd like to get motorsport inserts but the M5 ones will suffice for now), kinesis k18's, repainted the door trim on the drivers side... I'm sure I'm forgetting things.
Anyway, she's dirty but here she is anyway (dirt road 2 days in a row):

1998 Fern M3-daily
I went with 8k. I have mixed feelings about it. I like the way the front feels, but I'm not a fan of the rear. The rear is too soft and it's a bit squirrely at times. I believe the squirrelyness (shimmy over bumps) is caused by worn out bushings but I have not yet investigated.

Nice Michael! I saw your other thread about how there were a few things you didn't catch, but I think it's still a great deal and looks very nice. With just a bit of work, that thing will be a beauty!
On the right side of the trunk panel, is that a nokia phone module? I have the same thing in mine.
Oh, and let me know on those parts, I still want to buy them from ya. I might as well just pay shipping so I can get them already. :P
Thanks Man! It's nothing too terrible, but I wish I had caught the quirks earlier as I could have negotiated a bit harder... LOL! The Seller is a great genuine kinda person so I am certain it was not like he was trying to hide it or anything. I looked again and I really believe they replaced the Calipers. WOW!
The engine rattles on start up from cold - so I know it will at least need a new tensioner and I will start her up on full synthetic to help things before them darn guides give up the ghost! LOL! Everyone considers it a great deal and considering the increasing rarity of these cars - I am pleased as a kitten.
Please PM me your list again. A lot of stuff was lost in my mind with the whole Bimmerfest Drama I had to deal with. PS - I did check the door seals, three are great except the driver's.
Finally Found a wheel in the OEM sector that I really like. A set of style 95 in 19x9 and 19x10 offset 24.
I had my 20's on the car but the rubber band narrow tires felt like my car was falling appart driving, so finally changed to a wider taller tire that I belive look awesome.
Now the ride is much better. 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 mure rubber on the ground )))
What you Think?
^ looks good. Will be going with the same wheel myself. The tire sizes though are incorrect as you increased the circumference compared to stock.
Looks great. Style 95s make the car look 10 years newer.

Hey guys. Been on the boards for awhile due to my other rides (2000 X5, 1998 M3, 2004 545i which i sold last year) but really only to buy wheels. Been checking this section out since I just bought a 2000 528iT with 176k miles on it. It has a sport package I believe, 3 spoke steering wheel, blackend window trim, style 5 wheels. It was a salvage but I had my mechanic check it out and he couldn't see where there was any body or other major damage. The PO bought it from auction and just replaced the hood. I'm in the process of changing the radiator, front brakes pads and rotors, spark plugs, ambient thermostat, rewiring the fog lights. Have to do a complete safety check on it before I can register it. My smog guy said the smog check came out really low which was a good sign. Will post pics later.
