Yes; we're having a solid week of wall to wall sunshine! It's a bloody good time to be in lock down really; least everyone can get into their gardens and get them sorted for Spring

And yes, alas, we have the chavtastic wanker population in this country (and also a lot of self-important fucktards that feel they can flout the law/rules set out by the Government re the lock down and not to do any non-essential travelling etc); they're all out in groups walking around like they're not counted alongside everyone else...

They need a nice lump of 2x4 round the back of their heads or ideally a big rock dropped on them (which I can soon cater for and would offer my services for free)

Really; what we need to be doing it handing out condoms as we don't want these pissants multiplying!

Tape measure said it would fit.
Hauled a 60" cutting width mower deck in the ol" junkwagon.
Could have used the truck, but going 200 miles round trip at 25mpg is better than 10 mpg. And faster.
In case you didn't know, I love wagons.

Nothing but love for wagons but once MPG is in the discussion I can't help but think of my E70 X5D which can get 25 city, 35 highway, usually just under 30mpg (600-700 miles) on a tank.
It gets me excited for the future build, once the E39 Touring is (finally) wrapped up the next project is building an M57 swapped E61. MPG numbers should be awesome considering the performance.

Hey, I like diesels too, but road speed and mileage plus cheap gas and maintenance makes the 525 a winner.
Think about the speeds to average the 59 mph. And the milage is 28 something

    Hi,

    Diesel Power for Tourings!

Given petrol in the USA has been relatively cheap amongst the worlds G8/G20 nations, Diesel variants of popular cars hasn't really been a need over there. Over there in the UK, in the mid 90's the 'popularity' of Diesel happened due to people wanting longer gaps between having to fill up along with price of petrol and political directions - in actual fact, Diesel variants only make sense once the engione is warmed up and covering longer distances, but given that the cost at the pump was all that owners would see, it made a significant enough difference for the population to lap up diesel versions.

Whilst I do love my 'Diesel' I'd have loved it it was a 3 litre petrol and the cost of fuel wasn't so exorbitantly high here. I've mitigated a bit as I've converted to a manual 5 speed box and it gives perhaps 20% better fuel economy as a result, I've reduced that a bit as had an E60 Turbo and new intercooler and better fuel pump thingy change along with a remap to be at around 275HP - it feels absolutely fantastic to drive and I could get to about 290-300 HP if I were to change to upgraded injectors. I most likely won't do that, but never say never!

    Cheers, Dennis!

Does anyone know the BMW part number for the front springs to use for a 1999 540iT6 with the S227A lowered suspension option? I found a reference to it on the Lesjofors site, but without the factory part number.

    Thanks!

I ended up using part number 31 33 1 093 866 for the front springs, which should be the proper 10mm-lowered part. I had to wait for it to ship from Germany. I also went with Sachs 556-838 shocks after spending a ton of time reading through E39 forums.

Replacing the springs & shocks all around really improved the clutch engagement - I am "shocked" at how much better it feels now. Ha.

These cars were designed before the concept of "shark fins."

Has anyone figured out how to get a good Sirius antenna mounted without cutting anything? Ideally I would love to find a screw-in replacement for the single factory antenna since I never use AM/FM.

I grabbed the shark fin assembly from an e61 and it is the best Sirius antenna I have ever used, but there is no good way to mount it on the top of the car so I currently have it taped inside the rear driver's side window near the Sirius module. This means I lose reception whenever I drive east.

I mounted a e30 M3 antenna where the cell phone antenna was when I redid my headliner.
Works great for am/fm. Don't see why it wouldn't work there.

    1997 e39 523i T manual
One week ago purchased a 97 523i Touring. Euro delivery manual. Picked it up in San Diego and drove it to my garage in Tucson. What a blast to drive. Don’t know that I can post a pic since I just joined and this is my first post. Been driving a 2011 e93 M3 auto which is lots of fun but not especially practical for my needs. Sorry to see it go but loving my Touring.
