Havent been on the FI section 4 a long time. I finally got to doing the upgrades for the car. Quite a long road as no one makes much in the way of Hi-perf stuff for the 7er, so i must be crazy or very determined.
I am currently on the final leg of upgrades: Head P&P, Custom made oversize 1mm valves, titanium spring and retainers, custom SS tubular headers, intercooler & , larger S/C crank pulley, new hsf5 water/alcohol injection. Has been quite the adventure alot of time & money, huge amounts of research, but a lot of fun and hopefully will have the desired results.

Very cool. I love V8 power...especially when boosted.
Good luck with the rest of it. Keep us updated
Cool project! Keep us up to date with more pics as things progress.

Sounds like you'll need to give some love to the tranny after all this engine work.
Nice project! Good luck!
That's got to be the strangest looking oil pan I have ever seen.
Cool project, tho.
Hey, I didn't notice you were a Canuck too! Right on. Nice to see another FI north of the 49th.

Congrat's to a great project. What is Dinan S3 certified?I thought t hat was for E39 M5 and E46 M3?Also why the PnP on the M62 heads?I researched and was told very little benefit. Thanks

For every 1 cfm of air flow increase thru the heads translate to aprox. 1 hp increase in power in a naturally aspired engine and 1.2 hp for forced induction. So any restrictions that are present in a stock head that are corrected by polishing and enlarged by porting will have a direct result on HP output. The stock heads were quite bad - flow testing before & after resulted in a 42 cfm increase in flow and with the 1mm increase in valve diameter it went up to 56 cfm. FI gains in exhaust flow output are just as important so we are having a set of SS tubeular exh mani's made that should step up the HP by additional 12%. We are looking for a modest increase with heads PNP & exhaust of approx. 75 hp. Intercooler and W/I should result in 50 hp so based on current HP output should be about 565 HP.
I not so worried about the tranny as the rear end and will probably look to a LSD and larger drive train.
S3 certified is the same as with the M5 e39 series, Dinan way of rating how much money u spent - lol. Because i didnt add their braking system i will never get S4 / S5 but rest assurd the brembo BBK is far superior.
It really suprises me that there were such gains to be had for the heads on this car. Most of the engine builders have told me the I6 heads are very good and there are very little gains to the head work on those.

10 psi Stage III KO Performance Vortech supercharger,
I am conservative on my #'s, most spec data quote .27hp increase per increase in cfm for Non FI. Losses of 4% loss for walls, 14% for burrs or lip, 22% for turn radius, 28% for seat area, and the remainder for valve face, valve angle and throat area. So with this data you can see that most of the gains are not by polishing and clean up but more speciic to the valve and valve area. Porting or open up the combustion chamber is next for increases followed by exhaust runner porting.
Very nice... Subscibing..
oh, are you doing anything to bottom end? Crank, pistons, etc?
UUC EVO3 SSK, 6spd, Quaife dif. 3.15, VF Super Charger with race bypass valve, Zionsville super duty kit with 2 stage fan, M5 mirrors, SS brake lines, clears, BSW stage 1 and d112.e38 Subwoofer System, Angel eyes and HID lights, Strong Strut, Sarona full Body Kit, 750 brake swap, working on black interior swap and KW coil-over install, etc...
Hey BW nice to hear from ya - i just goin freshen up the bottom end - rings and bearings for now, i havent research bottom end builds on these motors, however time permitting i might do it complete.
Maybe i'm wrong but my understanding from my dinan guy is that S3 for the 7 series includes everything for S/C, intake, programming Yadda yadda up to exhaust & suspension, the S4 pkg is the S/C performance stuff + brakes & S5 is everything up to S4 + LSD rear end. Either way a chitful of cash.

I decided to do my stereo and custom interior work before I tackled the motor. I'm ready for going over 400 hp... I have the dinan stage 1 computer software and I run neck and neck with the last generation mustang cobra. Can't wait to see what the supercharger can do.
Headers finished
Been stalled with getting the proper valves, so after several back and forths, i was advised not to use BMW valves with the 3 slot keepers as they would not be reliable with the spring pressure and upgraded boost. So we redisigned a valve using a nisson race valve that we got to work that has a 1 slot keeper and from this we will be custom making new valves. 2 weeks in the process.
I'm so excited for the final result...

the headers are just sexy, big thumbs up
Fast, Cheap, Reliable - Pick any two, and the third is laughable
Well everything seem to be falling into place after 1 month wait of valves and valve train selection, so as the heads get finished i have started to dry fit the various parts and routings of wiring, new water injection pump and larger reservoir. Ceramic coated the exhaust. After all the back and forth we are going with the 3 keeper BMW style valves, they are finished and just waiting on valve springs and retainers. Larger crank pully 6" (+1" & 6 rib) and 3.25 Pump pully (down from 3.33) so it will be up from 34,000 rpm stock to 43,000 rpm.
