    Heater blower won't turn off! (02' 540i)

    Thanks for the help!

    Problem:
I turned on my heater this morning and when I got to work it did not turn off. The blower stayed on even after when I shut off my car. I disconnected the battery to turn it off. Any suggestions?

    Thanks again!

It wasn't that cold in the South Bay this morning!

Search for Final Stage Unit on here for confirmation of your symptoms.

This happened to me asa well and is one of the more common failures and easy to fix. It sound slike the FSU and you were smart to disconnect the battery. Lots of rundown batteries have been had by this failure.

Search on FSU and you will find a ton of help. Oh...the part is about $65 from AutohauzAZ and takes about 15 minutes to replace and requires a little contorting of your body to get under the dash on the passenger side.

    Good luck!

Do you know of any Auto Part Store that will have the FSU other than the dealer?

you most likely won't find it in an auto parts store. check autohausaz.com, getcoolparts.com or pelican parts for prices that are cheaper than dealership

Mine wouldn't turn on. I suppose that sometimes they don't turn off. The FSU swap was simple and the problems went away.

I don't like going against my supporting vendors.. but just to state facts....

It could drain your battery...mine was OK even though the fan ran after I turned the car off.

    Good luck!

my was bad , so I had to replace battery and at the same time I had to order from ebay a new navigation drive unit.I think that the battery going dead did it in.Not real sure though.

I'm resurrecting this thread as my problem is slightly different but close enough and I didn't want to start a new thread.

My blower turns off when the engine is off just fine. However, whenever the ignition is on, the fan refuses to stay off when I press "-".

It only stays off if I hold down the button, but right when I release it, the blower immediately turns back on to the first notch in intensity. Still FSU? Please advise.
