    BMW 325i convertible "surging" at 2500 RPM's?

I recently bought a red 94 BMW 325ic in MINT condition. This car is completely original, just under 100K, and looks and drives fantastic... however somewhere between 2500-3000 RPM's the car starts to surge. It only does this until you give it more gas, or let off the gas. Also, it doesn't do this all the time, just 2500-3000 RPM's and usually on a hill. Anyone have a clue what this could be? Whats making the car surge? I'm open to any/all comments suggestions. This is the only flaw the car has, and I want to have it fixed... just not sure what it could be.
    Thanks,
    Lucas

If it's an automatic it sounds like the TC is going in and out of lock.

reading through it will teach you alot about diagnosing surging, sputtering, and bogging problems in e36's, [for example lack of power in the higher end was due to the cats]
    for your problem:
Long story short-- replace your Coil packs, plugs and wires:

the thread is 88 pages long and doesnt start to turn up solutions until the 70's
but you can see all there trials and errors.

    best of luck
