okay...its an arctic silver on mulberry, 1996, 72k miles, lux package, really clean car... $13,000
?
Sounds like a fair deal. Do you have any pics?
The existence of flamethrowers is proof that someone, somewhere, said to himself, "I want to set those people over there on fire, but I don't feel like walking over there to do it."
+1, sounds good, but pics will always help. Records, number of owners, etc?
I'd offer around $10,000. It's winter, the E92 M3 is just around the corner, the E46 M3 is very plentiful. If you offer more, in 6 months, you'll be seeing that car for even less. Mine is a TechnoViolet 96 M3 with 166,000 that I paid $7,500 for in July 2007. I look at prices now and I overpaid $1,000.

+2 just by what you wrote, it sounds like a good deal, however the car needs to be seen and driven. If those two things check out, then the price is quite fair..albeit I'm not a fan of the luxos.
The miles are low for the year, and just given the average amount our vehicles have this day and age.

Don't PM Me. My box is way overfilled from when I was a mod. Email me if you have to get a hold of me.
FWIW, that is roughly what I paid for my 11/95 production Lux coupe (see link to photos in my sig) when I bought it off of a member on this board. At that time, the car had something like 78k and needed nothing. The only thing I've done in that time is VCG, plugs (NGK copper), BavAuto Ultimate Coil Packs, & oil filter (Mahle) + oil change (Amsoil). IMO, an offer of $10k is WAY TOO LOW unless the car has NOT been maintained and would be summarily dismissed by any enthusiast who was not in a hurry (or bind) to sell. You might offer $12,500 but share some pics, if/when you can for a better opinion from folks here. Let's just say you're in the ball park of a fair price already.
Good luck,
Tim

no pics.. but its reallly clean, second owner, first owner had it until a year ago, has had inspection 2 done.. i think he is fairly firm at 13850...so 13k is probably the lowest i could ever go
...u mean the highest you could go...
Do it!
One thing that everyone has to consider, is even tho e46's are coming down in price and the e92's are coming out. e36's are starting to become very rare, espically clean ones. So if its clean then its rare and id pay a few extra bucks for it. Once and a while ill go take a look at e36 m3's that are for sale in my area and its so sad what i see most of the time. They are just beat up and destroyed.

that is true.. and 13k for 72k miles is pretty good...in cali at least
that is a good deal!! I got my 1996 M3 with only 38,000 miles on it for 21k 2yrs ago. It was a garage kept car with some Dinan tuning done to it while it was new.
