This is one of the most intelligent and simple solutions to this problem that I have EVER heard of...+100000000000000 to the OP but ya gotta post some pix for us dude. Thanks...

BTW, I'd also heard of the problem with the resistors catching on fire and I'm certain none of us wanna come outta the store to find our ride is a bonfire in the parking lot!! The bulbs shouldn't ever do that...

Resistors are only rated at 1/4w normally. That's not much. However, they don't usually catch on fire. They DO get hot enough to catch other stuff on fire though.

+1 on the correction. I believe it's called "flashover"...

sorry guys no pics, I sold the car a month later. It was the wife's car, we had a baby girl recently so I got her an e39 wagon. lookin to pimp it out, but my daughter stole her thunder with the cars. Good for me bad for mom, my projects are growing like weeds and she pays no mind! Gotta love those babies!

Now I understand how he fooled the computer with the 2 extra bulbs but what I don't see is how he connected the lights since the harness is different. I take it he rewired?

    3) After that I just connected 1 wire at a time. Just turn on your parking lights and find the 2 wires that are putting out power. One of the 2 you will not use.

    (4) You then connect a small bulb on the first wire not used that is putting out power when the parking lights are on.

    (5) Then you find the led wire on the tail light through the harness. Touch each wire one at a time unitl you find it. then you cut and splice and add another little bulb on line. No biggie. then you just go 1 wire at a time.

Did you mean there should be 2 inline bulbs on each parking light's wire?
    I love my 911T~~~

Where to buy the BALLAST for the LED Tail and Brake Light BMW X5 E53?

Appreciate the assistance if any members could share the link to purchase only the BALLAST.
