Lower end carnage, ouch, time for a used motor huh. For the shear coolness factor a manual conversion would be just sick. There's gotta be somewhere in PR you could find a used M60 for a decent price anyone want to donate one to the cause......
Tune the exotics by profession but Bimmas are what I drive!
he said it was hydrolocked. sucked water into the cylinders. we all know liquids do not compress, therefore, stuff breaks. Connecting rods either bend or break, causing severe carnage to the block.

what's your opinion on this engine? It's an M62, and my car had an M60, I think that its possible to retrofit the bigger engine. What do you guys think?

here are tha final carnage pics.
+1 for the manual 7.
And damn, that is some carnage caused by the hydrolock.
Good luck with the project, keep us updated!
Yeah. I was saddened when I saw the carnage, but I might benefit from this tragedy. I am considering on installing an M62.
What ill do to install the M62 is simply use the old wiring harness and downgrade to non vanos (if the newer engine has it.) I am not worried about the M60 computer being used with the M62 because the fuel injection uses a Mass air flow meter and can infinitely adjust the air fuel curve until proper ratios are established.
Since I am a college student and I am running low on cash I am going to sell parts from the M60 engine in order to keep this project online.
This is a great thread, definitely subscribed.
I finally bought a used e38 engine on Ebay!!! It cost me $650(engine) + $25(boxing fee) + $350(freight) for a total of $1,025. I received the engine last week and started preparing it for installation.
My only complaint was that the box which it came in was really cheap, but then again, you can't ask much for the price.
Also, I ordered two engine mounts from Ebay. I also ordered 4 oil filter kits and a front crank seal.
So, before installing the engine, I want to clean it up and change any bad gaskets it may have.
Here are some pics
What happened during the installation?
Did yo take any pictures of that?
Did you ever finish OP?
Guess not.
I'm researching e38 engine rebuilds right now too.
