i have been dealing with this noise, that is kind of hard to describe but i'll try my best.
i'll start by saying it sounds like a rotating noise. it occurs between 50-60 mph, most noticable around 50-53 mph. it sounds like a chirrping/humming sound that i can't determine if it is coming from the front or rear of the car. i assume it coming from the suspension, but i really can't be certain. the car has 65000 miles and it is a 97 318is. i just replaced brakes and rotors and sound did not change. one place once told me that the wheels weren't balanced correctly, but i got all new wheels and tires and the noise wasn't effected at all. i just hope someone has an idea about this or some recommendations.
thanx,
MATT
could be anything from the tires, to a wheel bearing
that's what i was afraid of, guess i'll have to let a shop listen to get a better idea of what might be making the noise before i start the process of elimination.
thanx,
MATT
