Like with leatherique?
I have a tan interior in my 328is and I want to go black. I was hoping to just dye it...will this work/last?
wrong forum, but, it's pretty easy to dye to darker colors, not so easy starting with dark & going to lighter.
Look for a product called SEM, I have had good luck with it. And I second the part about dark to light, very difficult
will that work on the dash too? I want a black/black sedan dash, but the only ones I see for sale are way more than I want to spend.. but grey/black and tan/black seem cheap and plentiful

wow, that looks really good minus the piece on the glove box. Did you dye the headliner too? How long and tedious is the process of removing the dash?
I've got tan interior and want to go black as well. I'd love to get more info!
Same here, Some black dye for the dash and rear seats......any suggestions? Price is not an issue with interior as quality dye kits probably cost more $$
This guy had it done:

if price is no issue, just buy black seats.... lulz
Lol your always finding a way to contradict me but then again let me restate what I said
Price of the DYE kit is no issue as either way it will be cheaper than buying black seats, plus my seats are in immaculate condition.
50k car, less than 50k on back seats for sure, maybe 10k on them at most. Except one tiny cigarette hole stupid friends, no more smoking in my car.
Yeah like I said that's an old pic, taken right after dying. Couldn't find a more recent one. The glove box vents were done soon after
The SEM stuff works very well on hard plastics like glove box vents or the piece supporting the arm rest just like on softer plastics/vinyl like door panels or the dash. I also did the sun visors.
I chose not to remove the dash but instead mask the hell out of the interior.
I had already redone my headliner at the time, not dyed, just used new fabric.
Let me know if you plan to dye your dash I'll give you some pointers.

Hmm....anywhere I can read on what these procedures are??/how to do it?? To decide if I want to go through with it or not.
be careful dying your seats....do an extremely thorough job...skip any corners whatsoever, youll see the horror in a few months.
i had great luck with leatherique, but i stuck with the same color
What I did for my dash/door panels/other pieces:
1. wash with water and soap (no chemicals) and a brush (you want to remove all the nasty stuff) then dry.
2. Rub a Scotch brite pad to remove what's left and rough up a bit the surface then wipe
3. spray
I've become pretty familiar with using spray paint/dye after doing wheels and valve covers so that was pretty easy doing a clean job.

since u didnt remove the dash, how about the area where the dash hits the windscreen? any tan left there?
btw the 1st pic looks so sick, fresh clean like a new interior.
My friend's dad owns a leather re-dying company. So, yes, you can dye it. Going from lighter to darker is a snap. Darker to lighter isn't so much. I assume it would require bleaching of some kind?

I sell the stuff, and custom mixed DuPont stuff..
Its great stuff, but on high wear area's like seats and door handles it will wear off. How long will depend on the amount of wear you give it.
That being said, its great for some people.
kessler, you think the dash will fade away with time?
As long as you put more than one or two coats?
Sure..
It just seems to wear through after heavy contact.
I would NOT do seats from Tan to Black. Everything else.. Sure, just be easy with your hands every day on the door panels.
I may be doing my tan door panels black here in a week or two if I can't pick some up really cheap. Id do the carpet too if you weren't going to wear on it too much.
