This has been an on going project, mostly everything under the car/mechanical has been done over the past year. It's a pretty basic car, no expensive/crazy prep work, just the basics. I started this "final stage"(is it ever final? ) from track car to race car about a week before Christmas so here's a sort of FF on the interior work done so far. Most of the work seems to take place between 10pm and midnight .
Start:
I removed the AC compressor and lines somewhere in that process, but the heater core remains. I'm still going back and forth whether or not to keep it. Also both front windows/actuators have been removed. It will be going to the cage builder in the next few weeks.
yep...that looks pretty gutted..
work on the suspension now, then some brakes, a LSD, then the driver........then work on the engine.
Selling door panels?

WOW, I am always amazed...( not that it is particularly difficult...) at the amount of shit that comes out of these cars and with Greg's being relatively new....it is even more....
Congrats on doing the most difficult part of the build -stipping out a perfectly good car! I remember I had a hard time tearing everything out of my car. Its one of those once done jobs there's no going back.
It will be great to have some more competition in '08. What's your first planned race going to be?
Robert, have you thought about GTS w/NASA?
Always up for good racing. I have some reservations about being out on track with some of the other race groups though. I'm going to come down to the Houtson MSR event in Feb and just check things out. If I get the warm fuzzies then I'm def. going to run some of the NASA events this year. Right now planning to race the March event. It sounds like there will be a few more people in GTS2 for '08 as well.

I get what your saying. I was at the NASA event at MSR-H in feb last year. It was crazy to watch car after car go into the wall in that run group. Ok, maybe it was only a few cars, but still. But from what I've heard the run groups have shifted around now and its better.
dont know how you guys do it, tearing up a perfectly good car.

Easy. Some tools, some thought, and some brute strength. Most of us aren't emotionally attached to the cars, they're just tools used for racing. BMW made thousands of them. Perfectly good cars make the best race car starting points.
Oh and Greg, someone wants to buy your door panels...sell them! Soon as you put them up for sale at your leisure, no one will want them.
Good luck on the build, I'll be checking it out!
Never love your race car because it will never love you back.
Can't wait to see it finished.

Not much has happened lately. I got some aluminum floor pans and made a new lightweight battery tray, that's about it. It'll be basically a waiting game till March 10, that's when it's going to the cage builder.
