    OE Alarm Installation for E86

OE BMW M Coupe Alarm (P/N 65730302424) from http://www.getbmwparts.com (Tischer BMW) installed.
These cars come pre-wired from the factory so installing the alarm is pretty much plug-and-play, the car comes activated for it as well. The kit consists of the hood pin switch, alarm siren, and mounting hardware.

The plastic firewall blanket retainer was removed to reveal a square hole, the metal tab provided snaps into this hole and then the bracket is mounted.

The hood pin switch snaps into this bracket. The plastic retainer nut can then be reinstalled. The wiring for the hood pin switch is tucked behind the master cylinder, you may have to feel/look for it if it is not visible.
Once found, the tape securing it to the wiring harness and the plastic dummy plug is removed. This plug is then snapped into the hood switch connector and the wire routed back with the conduit.

Moving to the rear of the car for the siren installation, the cover is dropped for access by removing 8-8mm bolts and 2-12mm acorn nuts.

Once dropped the plug can be seen taped to the wiring harness.

Assembling the siren and mounting bracket is next, it has an alignment tab and the plug connector should be visible when bolting together.

After the wiring harness tape and dummy plug are removed, the siren assembly can be plugged in and installed onto the two studs with the supplied nuts.

The plastic cover is reinstalled and you now have a functioning alarm once you have the dealer recode for it

What is the difference between this kit (p/n 65730302424) and the one with this part number 170456438561, just a motion sensor?

Do they install the same way, plug and play? Or is it more involved?

    Thanks

To my knowledge that is the only difference, the E85 has a motion sensor. I'm not sure why they took that out of the package for the E86, my M3 is a fixed roof model and it has the motion sensor.

Both are plug and play but you might have to get it activated by your dealer if it is not already on by default.....

Apparently, the kit with the motion sensor can't be installed for a Z4 M Coupe. The kit described in the write up is the only alarm kit that will go into a M coupe. According to the dealer parts guy.

I tried to install the retrofit today, but I can't find the connector for my sirene. Everything else is prewired... (Hood, motion and tilt sensor)
There is just a 4 pin connector. Any idea what this connector is for? (My car is a Z4 E85 roadster 03)

Well I have everything installed. Now the beep beep works when I lock/unlock the car. I guess the next thing is going to the stealer to have the alarm system turned on?

The M coupe I just got appears to have the alarm, as the car beeps with locking/unlocking. What is the easiest (non-destructive!) way to test to see if the car is coded for the alarm function since there is no motion sensor?

Just want to say a big thank you to member wrh3 for this great DIY write up.

I installed the alarm kit just now to my son's 2007 Z4M and it couldn't be any easier.

Thanks again for sharing the knowledge and experience. Greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Thank you for great write up. Pictures made it easy. I ordered without thinking twice; then noticed you have a coupe.

I have 2008 Z4 M Roadster. Install was identical to yours. Single chirp and flashes on lock; double chirp unlock. Have not had system programed for alarm yet.

Very happy. I just picked up car last week and thought it was odd there was no indication of lock/unlock. Even without alarm function; well worth $40.

Sorry for the late response, no more BMWs so I don't frequent these forums like I used to. For future reference for others though, the easy way to test the coupe alarm is to leave the window rolled down and arm the alarm. Give it a while to arm and then reach in, unlock the door from inside, and open it up No alarm sound means it is time to visit the dealer for coding.

I installed the motion sensor alarm in my 2006 Z4MR today, quite simple actually.

I have not coded for the alarm yet but I don't hear any chirps when locking/unlocking and I have read that I should at least be hearing this without coding...

    Is my alarm defective?

Should I hear the chirp without coding?

Man, I hate to revive this old as$ thread but this is also an old as$ install. I bought a BMW alarm kit (65730309944) and it came with what appears to be the E85 motion sensor, part number "6 944 875 E85". Has someone looked under the oddments box an the M Coupe (I have an '07) and found that the 4 pin connector is NOT there? Seems to me that it would be and I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

    Thanks!

I know that this is a really old thread, but I found the install photos useful for my 2006 Z4MR. The alarm kits are discontinued, but I was able to order the individual parts from ECS Tuning. Unfortunately, it was far more expensive than the original kit was.

The siren bracket that I got was of a different design. It holds the siren pointing down towards the ground. The cable had to be plugged in before the bracket could be mounted.

Everything is installed. No chirping at all from it yet, so it looks like I will have to get the car coded to activate the alarm functions. I was hoping to not have to go to the stealership for that.

Resurrecting the dead again, I know.

It took awhile, but I was finally able to get my alarm working on my '06 Z4MR. I wasn't able to get the siren to chirp or wail at all. It turns out that the plug to the siren was not fully plugged in.

I coded the alarm with NCS Expert (on Windows 10 even). If anyone goes that route, these are the options that I made sure were set to active:

DWA - ANTITHEFT ALARM SYSTEM (DWA)
MIT_OPT_ALARM - WITH ANTITHEFT ALARM SYSTEM (DWA)
ALARM_OPT_ABBLENDLICHT - VISUAL ALARM (LOW BEAMS FLASH)
ALARM_OPT_WARNBLINKER - VISUAL ALARM (HAZARD LIGHTS FLASH)
ALARM_OPT_FERNLICHT - VISUAL ALARM (HIGH BEAMS FLASH)
QUIT_AKUST_SCHAERF - ACOUSTIC LOCKING ACKNOWLEDGE (SINGLE ALARM BEEP)
QUIT_AKUST_ENTSCH - ACOUSTIC UNLOCKING ACKNOWLEDGE (TWO ALARM BEEPS)
    NEIGUNGSGEBER - TILT SENSOR
    2006 Z4 ///M - Interlagos Blue/Beige
