    side pipe exhaust

is this even possible? i'm trying to be original with the exhaust i put in... just trying to do something less common. thinking about working it into a side skirt or out the back behind the back tire... kinda wanted to copy the viper gts-r style...

    possible?

    other ideas?

something i really want to do... but it has to look good.

you can do it, just a matter of time/money to complete it. It won't be original, but it will still be rare.

Dado had a side exahust IIRC, and I believe the PTG cars did it as well. 328ischef is looking at running a side exhaust on his current race car project as well.

does anyone have photos? I have a sedan... i'm just curious as to how it looks... plus the fact it'd be near the end of the side skirt not to mention right by the rear passenger's door. Money and time is all i got... hahaha not really, but if it's within reason i'm totally down.

Anyone who has side exhaust on an e36 has their gas tank removed and a fuel cell installed.

    Dado's user profile

You can see his exhaust in the sig. You can probably email or pm him for more, or search on his name (although his m3 has changed alot over the years).

its hard to do because there really isnt room under the body to run the exhaust through

Sure it has been done. You have to cut/weld a tunnel under the pass seat and a hole into the side skirt. You need a low profile muffler. You need to insulate the hell out of the body or passenger will roast his buns.

Ultimately, its way too much effort.

don't most tracks have db restrictions?

what is the real purpose of wanting the side exhaust?

    weight (less tubing)
sometimes aero (room for a big functional diffuser)

What about a hole through the bottom of the passenger footwell, exiting right behind the right wheel?
