I hate to ask but what did you spend all said and done?

$40K USD? Please don't answer if you dont want to.

The car is insane and you went threw hell with the rust. I am just so curious.

The guys at Auto-Tauber chose the cage. I may later go for a stronger
"DTM" style weld in cage & sell this one.

Hehe - donīt know if I agree itīs a rust bucket. It didnīt spend itīs life
in a dry climate and itīs close to 20 years old. In hindisight I wish we had
realised the status of the subframe but we didnīt - even though it went
through inspection both here in Iceland and at Auto-Tauber.

True - we could have but then it would have been much more expensive.

Good thing you made it with days to go.

One question, for a 22 y/o about to go into the real world, as a way to guage goals/success/etc. .. what do you do?!
I am a mechanical engineer and own a few small businesses in the
compueter graphics sector. Itīs taken 10 years to build them up
and now they are finally returning some $$$ to fund my car projects

Yes it was. A special import - only available in Japan Iīm told.

There was another wagon there that day - a new M5 Touring. It kept lapping
me like I was standing still Later found out it was Nigel Mansell driving

The engine has built internals, watercooled intake and a supercharger from ASA.
The engine is supposed to pump out 450-500hp but I think itīs a little bit
down on that power. This will be fixed this summer

I got a good deal on alot of the stuff going into the car - especially the
    engine/gearbox package.

I havenīt added up all the invoices yet
Havenīt done that either with the M5.

Probably best to keep it that way

    Here is an update:

The car has arrived at Tauber and they are now working on it.
It was accompanied by my friends E30 cabrio that they are also going to work on.

Asked them to fix some rust spots....

The Chasecam unit has been moved so itīs easier to load/unload the CF card:

Also had them move the record button/indicator so itīs easier to reach and see:

The "sunroof" had a nasty edge that could be dangerous if something happened
when not wearing a helmet.... so I had them trim it:

And here they are working on fixing a "footprint" that an envious little prick
    left on the car:

    Some extra gauges:

    Adjustable sway-bars:

    Some more rust fixing....

    WTF!?!?!?

    Ahhhh, now I remember!!!

    Gauges being fitted:

    Bracket painted:

Itīs a dry sump system and you can also see the upgraded
fuel system in the trunk (swirl pot, pump, filter).

Some more pics from the shop in Germany:

R2D2 being test-fitted in the trunk:

    Cut of switch for electricity:

Some nice CF parts have arrived :

All this CF up front + the dry sump system is going to help to
correct the weight distribution in the car
