Oh lord
Here is the power curve for a similar motor that my tuner
friend tuned:
Nice curve for a track car

This has been "progressing" slowly....
Other things in life seem to get in the way of spending time/money on this
Got a friend of mine who has already tore down his Europameister E30 M3 to help me yesterday, he´s very normal:
Drysump tank out:
Surface rust under battery:
Rear side windows out and started to remove the heater:
Worse has been seen on E30's, hopefully salvageable:
Small rust dot on the A-pillar:
Seems ok here:
Some cancer:
Garage filling up with parts
Need to get some off to storage:
Took the drysump tank apart while taking it out, cleaned it and reassembled:
Plan now is to strip the car as soon as possible and then it´s getting blasted by "Dustless Blasting" (Home - Dustless Blasting). Then I´ll get a better idea how much metal work has to bee done.

Awesome thread, never seen it before. Already been a while since it was last updated and seems to have died suddenly.
How's the car doing?

Project still alive and progressing slowly
Pics of the DCT box - on it´s way from Denmark:
Will be interesting making it fit... the E30 tunnel is not quite big enough
- - - Updated - - -
Also, finally the S50 engine is sold & paid for.
Gave up on the original buyer and sold it locally - here is the happy new owner picking it up:
Will go into a mint 1990 E30 316.
So now the S85 is on the engine stand with the parts list.....

Finally something happening..... DCT box transported from Denmark to Iceland:
And seems to fit nicely in the tunnel - maybe I will not need to butcher it:
And finally, a slight change in plans regarding the engine. Sourced a complete stock engine, will run that to start with.
Rod bearings will be changed and then later I will go for the sleeved block stroker build:
Will arrive in Iceland next week.
PS. This thing had kept me busy, but now it´s complete the M3 gets some attention again

Quite the size difference between the stock S85 pan and the dry sump pan!

This build just got a whole lot more crazy! I like it!
Some progress with dry sump install.
Needed to thread one hole and put a bolt in it to block it.
A good friend of mine that runs a CNC business is happy with the workmanship of the pan!
AC and steering pump have to go:
Also have to remove the chain that used to drive the stock oil pump as well as the chain guide/tensioner:
Pumps out of the way. There you can see the old output of the oil pump and the oil input into the block:
Chain off, had to loosen up the vanos pump to do so.
Stuff off:
Pumps and oil filter housing off:
Here you can see better the original oil output and input into block:
Inserting the ARP bolts:
Blocking plate and new input for oil into block:
Output blocked:
Both installed:
Pan in place:
On the left is the new pulley for the dry sump pump. On the right is the stock crank pulley, need to machine the AC part off:
Here you can see how it fits together:
Now the M5 has gone into winter storage - there is now space in the garage for some RNGTOY work
With help from a good friend, the S85 went in this weekend.
Only minor mechanical persuasion was needed
Will probably get it 2-3 cm lower and 4-5 cm further back.
But so far so good.

Oh lawdy... This is a thing of beauty
Some new parts for the build.
Couldn´t resist some used Evolve intakes that were for sale recently.
Also, some proper engine mounts from Vibra tech. Also a mono wiper kit from AKG + some reinforcements.
Now waiting for the mounting bracket for the DCT, once that is get I can get the engine/box into final position.

Project superslow continues, DCT bracket finally here - Schmiedmann taking it very slow thru the holidays:
Next is to bolt the DCT box to the engine and see how it all fits, headers too

Some heavy CAD design going on (Binky style) to make brackets, none of the OEM stuff can be used because of lack of space!

Decided to splurge on some Supersprint hardware:
These are originally made for E46 M3, 2 x 2.5" - will incorporate into a custom exhaust. Old exhaust sold and will go into the car the S50 engine went into
The preferred setup is:
headers -> x pipe -> cutout valves -> mid box -> rear box
But due to space restraints the cutout valves might have to go between the mid and rear boxes. I want to have both the possibility to have crazy loud V10 and then a track day compliant setup also
But I have plenty time to figure that out, delivery is in week 11
