and is ebay the only place to find one? i couldn't find one at bmw dealer! anyone selling one? any vender's? DRACCENT?
The one You need to roll down the windows manualy when the motor is out, is the allen underneath the pliers, it is also good to open the the sunroof when there is no power.
then what goes in that open slot shown above?
I always thought that little plastic piece was for rolling down the window. Never tried to use it though.

The Allen wrench is for the window. Ask me how I know.
I don't know but this one might be the same.

My 325e had a 8mm socket that you could put the T-handle that you use for either lining up your rims when putting them back on (thanks Tangent for that) or doing spark plugs. Pic...
Yes it's been passed down from the eta, and so as the gearshift knob. No you can't have it.
i saw that spot the other day as well and had no idea what it was. hehe.

That plastic thing is for rolling down manual windows when the handle or whatever messes up. The allen wrench is for electric windows.
Its fairly useless unless you have manual windows.
Molon Labe.
draccent, if you find one at the yard, PLEASE hook me up
Funny. My electric window got stuck down. The motor died. I popped the round black plastic cover off the door and peeled out the rubber cap and there was a hole for the allen wrench. Popped it in and rolled it up. It also happened to be raining.
You can have my little plastic thingy. Doesn't do any good in my car.
ill give you a buck for it.. i got cranks
2 bucks
OK, so this is either a plastic thingy for manual or power windows or an 8 mm socket for everything else. My tool kit is missing the same whatever it is...

i saw this thread and how clean you guys keep your trunk kit. i felt ashamed and imeadiatly went out side and scrubed the crap out of it. looks a million bucks!!! im going to drive around with my boot open from now on just to show it off...
The plastic tool is for early model e30 with power windows, the allen wrench works on the later style regulators. It has a slot that goes into the regulator, then you tighten down the bolt in the center and use that large thin wall socket to turn the plastic tool

Hate to open up an old thread but i just bought the tool kit and it's also missing the plastic thingy and that rod that goes inside the spark plug tool..
But now i google it and some have the 8 mm socket or a 10 mm socket...
Would a 10mm socket fit in it's place..
I like to get the correct piece that was offer in the tool kit back when new in 1988
