    Buying a 2004 E46 M3

Hey guys so I recently came across a 2004 E46 M3 w/SMG that has 49 original miles. Im in the process of purchasing the vehicle. Owner starts the car once a week and drives it once a year to get serviced. Owner also states AC needs to be recharged. I took a look at the car and its definetly in “brand new” condition. Not sure if I should worry about anything. But im pretty set on buying it.

Does the owner live 1.75 miles from the point of service? 49 miles divided by 14 years divided by a trip there and then back works out to the car being 1.75 miles from where it is being driven. This sounds fairly odd, but could certainly be possible. Seems like someone who would keep a car in that condition for that long would definitely insure that everything was in perfect working order, including the AC.

What would I do? I would have a very experienced BMW specialist or at least a very experienced collision guy have a look, especially for collision repair. Brand new cars get wrecked with a few miles on them during test drives and can sit for a long time before anyone repairs them if the damage is beyond what the dealer can repair and still call it new. AC happens to be right there at the front of the vehicle, which would make me look hard from evidence of a frontal collision. I'm not an expert, but I am saying to look deep into this before you pay top dollar. Check the title to see if anything is out of line with a car that was purchased new from a primary sales source (BMW dealer). It seems far too good to be true.

    Stubbornness is a virtue....

Good thing my buddy is the master tech at the bmw dealership here. He said he has never worked on the car but would see it come in for that once a year service. Guy also has a 15 M4 with 90 miles on the clock. When I went to his house he had a few other vehicles that look brand new and havnt been driven. Every single car hooked up to a trickle charger. Im guessing he just has a thing about buying vehicles and not driving them. But having my buddy come with me tomorrow to check it out. Also title has no discrepancies. Ive been trying to buy this car for the past month and guy is finally starting to give in. I have em him locked at a decent price actually dont want to disclose that yet. Id post pictures but dont know how to from my phone.
