Told you I wouldn't skimp on the videos!
This video is no big deal. I need a lot more power but this is a fun little video that is pretty clear during the day. I am not sure how fast I was going but a 2.79 with rear 315x30x18 tires can give you the equation I guess.
Rain is actually coming to San Diego (we need it badly!) so there won't be vids for a week or so, therefore here is something. Car will be down again so I can have spacers installed in rear (rubbing badly on inside) and I will try a new boost controller for more boost. Plus I will be upping the rev limiter to 8500 (EDIT: on second thought...after some nice feedback I won't try too much rpm and try out just boost instead) and messing with antilag.

nice. that was a very long video!

not slow.

Thanks Pat! Yeah when I get a chance I will get on another freeway that has some room to stretch her legs. Need to hit it at the right time during daylight hours...like 7am on a Sunday morning when everyone is hung over or getting ready for church. It will be alot more fun with more rpm to go up top and a bunch more boost.
Yeah Yeah if I didn't have this big of a turbo I wouldn't need more rpm, right? Well you make a good point. It's almost like I want to test the limits of her for some reason.
cam, did you ever post your dyno curves (I know about the number situation)?
I dunno, it seemed responsive enough to me but then again what do I know...

You are right Kenny! I have explained how it feels to drive the car with this turbo. I definitely admit it isn't easy to get used to because the rpm band is so short and unless I downshift I am going nowhere fast. I am thinking of purchasing a used pt67 with .68a/r hot side just to try out. I had to go really big so I would know and understand what it is like. Otherwise I would have just kept inching up the ladder of larger turbos. Now I understand. I still really enjoy it but I am thinking 700whp (Dynojet USA ) would be fine for me since I drive mostly on the street. I will have to tune for 30psi first and see. I might like that too much to go with a smaller turbo though. I want to see how much power this car's setup can take before it becomes unbearable on the street at WOT. It is nuts how much traction I have.
Just so everyone knows, you're probably shifting at about 75-80 MPH from second, and your third probably goes to 120+.
See if you can focus the camera on the gauge cluster. I know how fast you're going, but it's tough for others to understand how fast you accelerate from 40-120.
And I agree with Kenny. 8500 is way up there. I have mine set at 7800 (7500 with a couple of the tunes). I'm not sure that I would want to try 8500.
Edit: And then do a 0-60+ and edit it to show the 0-60 time using Premiere. Or send it to me and I'll add the timer, maybe even do a split screen of our cars.
Yup, thats sick.

Thanks Kurt. Well I thought about 8500 because Mike R. has mentioned he is running 8300 with a fully stock m50NV head he slapped on his built bottom end. So since mine is pretty built I thought I should get at least another 200rpm. I mean hell, he has the quickest M3 in the USA and has been beating on it without a bent valve. However, yeah I just got the car back and while I guess it would suck to break something, it would also be an excuse to go bigger. I would like people's opinion on the Mike stock m50NV head comment. If he can run 8300 with stock m50NV...
I believe my speedo is way off due to my tire size and diff gearing...someone who knows better about how that all works together please post.
I would like to get a suction camera mount so I can get a nice zoom from the side driver window angle showing speedo and tach.
Some day I will get a 0-60 but right now my starts are pretty slow due to turbo lag.
Thanks!

VIDEO-2nd/3rd gear pull-why not? We all love videos! <-very true :-)
All this talk of turbo lag, what turbo do you have?
nice. how about one of the speedo?
Cam there is gonna be lag,you say that a 1st to 2nd gear vid would be slow
this is true but how many times will you actually be playing with some one on the street from a stop,90% of the time its from a 40,50 or a 60 MPH roll.
Look at your dyno graph and know where your peake torque is and know thats where you have to be in the rpm range when you get on it.When your at the track the anti lag helps. My car would never pull a 1.6 60 ft unless I gave it alot of rpms untill I started usaing anti lag now 1.6 60's are normal.
As for rpms' I would go to 8000 rpms on the dyno and at the track the rest of the time stay at 7500.Your car will eat 90-95% of the cars on the street
so your good.
I know you dont want to hear this but you are looking for faster acceleration
but running a long gear. Gearing is torque multiplacation and will get you to your peake torque rpm quicker. The auto cross guys are more aggressive on gearing then we are they run 3.64 and 3.91.I have a 3.23 in the garage
you can borrow use it for while and tell me what you think.Your car will be a new animal. Use your diff for the street but just remember that it is for long
highway pulls not quick acceleration.
(Guys I dont want a arguement over gearing I know from experiance my car droped 3 tenths in the 1/4 just from going from a 3.23 to a 3.38)

Sure, a 3.23 or a 3.38 diff would be awesome if he wants to tear his drivetrain apart, or if he just wants to spin in any gear. Remember, we are talking about street tires. In this situation, changing the diff will not help him, but probably hurt him. I definitely agree with Kenny. Cam, go with a smaller turbo and enjoy your car even more.

I can think that is fun to drive after all this time
Shorter manifold will give you better spool-up.
Maybe you should try a GT4094R turbo? It would be easy to fit..
9.42@155mph
Cam, your having fun with the car/build! You just got the thing back, learn the car more, have more fun, see what happens for the next year! I agree with Kenny as well, a T4 housing with a .81 hotside is huge! It's going to take sometime to spool that UFO up!
Cam I'll trade you my Stg 1 for your turbo = stg 6 for me
Love the car man!
Rafa.
