+1, they dont get much uglier than the new 6-Series. Agree, all driven by women here in the UK trying to be classy with little idea about class or style.

If thats how a modern car looks, I'll keep the 8 thanks.

yes i love my pop ups just the way they are... i was always intrigued as a kid and cars with hide-away headlights! Camaro, Charger, etc etc… the only beef i have is that the shell of the lamps assembly should be painted the same color as the body... so when popped up they look like they belong...

Just a thought on this idea, how would it look if someone where to install two projector style lights into each of the FTP (main beam section) and wire them into the side light harness so as when the sidelights would be turned on the four projectors (2 either side) would also light? This could be used for urban driving in low light, however when more light is necessary you simply flick the switch allowing the pop up lights to come on as normal with dipped or main beam as required?

    Anyone ever tried this?

Has been done at least 3 times I can recall. Looks neat! Dinan used GM square projectors ex early-mid 90s pontiacs/oldsmobile/camero headlights.

Here you go. Get in touch if you want some projector housings to experiment with:

How come the middle half of any project always takes the most time?

bi-xenons instead of driving lights? That would be a nice upgrade IMO

BiX or even just standard/real X projectors won't fit in there, sadly. Only small Halogen projectors as shown by Bill, or LED Arrays....

The porsche in my sig is a turbo 911 Carerra S, but it is sadly not mine. I also do like the 840 better than any porsche though. and that porsche is $100K+

IMHO all those pictures of that modded E31 (and the girl next to it) go to prove that, just because you can do something (or wear something in her case) doesn't mean you should. That's touching on heresy and the owner should be only allowed near Jap cars, its a frickin E31 not an Imprezza (just my opinion of course).

    Still in the works

I have yet to complete the buckets, halo and plexi finish, then there is the matter of the holes in the hood.

    Along way to go yet.

Why would you want to destroy the essence of the car? This makes no sense to me. I saw a post recently from someone asking about taking the center out of the kidney grille. Why? The car was exceptional for its time, and remains timeless. By butchering it up you can kiss any resale value goodbye.

In the end, it's your car, do as you please. I hate to see it happen though...

    My .02...

The car was originally new worth around 80 to 100k new, now they sell for 5 to 15ish k. Sorry to say but if you are looking for resale value, you should of bought a Toyota then you would get your moneys worth.

My car wasn't prestiene to begin with and is not worth restoring as the previous owners mucked it up pretty good so it was the perfect platform for me to customize. Why would I want to own some thing that some one else already has. As "Roger" says "there are too many self endulgent weiners out there with too much money"

By the way I also have a prestine unrestored classic vehicle also, so don't get the wrong impression that the car is being buchered.

Even if I were to restore it wouldn't get any resale value out of it........

WHY WOULD I SELL IT !!!!!!

The 8 is great looking car.

It seems like you might be a temporary 8 owner??????
What is the resale value on yours????

I have made my comitment I'm in it for the rest of the life of the car.

    Just trying to open eyes.

Like you said it is MY car. and you have your car.
