Thanks johnf
I am a gadget freak so i don't mind doing the work for the extra stuff, other than the tail lights is there any other parts i need, my friend has a 3 series with check control only that i could look at. I could do with the pinouts of the CCM module itself. (located behind the dashboard and only present if you have check control, for a previous post).
I will photograph and write what i do if there is not a set of instructions somewhere.
Per my recent post, your car probably has a two-pin brake light switch. You'll likely need to replace it with a four-pin switch costing around 20 euros and wire up its second switch section to the check control module.
There may be other things you need to change.
While you are running wires under the carpet, I might suggest laying down some spare circuits. I ran 11 extra 0.75 mm^2 wires from the dash to the luggage compartment the last time I had everything out and have already used most of them for other projects.

Good idea about the extra wires, I am going to get the pinout of the CCM module first, then I am going to see what the check control actually checks and use my mates car to finish of finding where the wires go. It cannot be hard to wire up, as the CCM is just a glorified voltage tester.
Also to retro fit i will get the module and connectors from a scapyard/breakers.
I found where the is the CCM location, but, how I assumed, I haven't it
I see on ebay this one, but it has a different code from my BMW ETK...is it good for my car?
this is the code: 61.35-1388613 on ebay
on my ETK the code is: 61.35-8353098
are the same??

what works on the obc without the ccm?
when u have the CODE function in OBC, where do u get this code?. do i have to go back to dealer in order to get this code for my OBC to lockup my car or its the same code as my radio?
I am planning to do the conversion and i am very interested about this function.

Everything but check control. Some European cars were ordered and built that way.Originally Posted by whonneb

turn off the car,
turn the ignition key in position 1,
press CODE,
when the ---- is flashing insert the code you want, e.g. 1234 and press SET/RES,
the next time u will start the car a gong signal inform u that u have to insert the code and the text CODE ---- appears,
insert 1234 and press SET/RES,
turn on the car,
drive!

The other thing I did was leave the X1070 without Vcc and GND as the instructions in this post (no pins 17 and 18, only power going to x1071). Everything works ok, do u think this is the problem?
Thanks for any help!

Me again! Also, the X16 on my car had a wire in pin21 instead of nothing like in the pelican parts instructions. So I tapped (spliced) this wire instead of removing it and plugging a new one.

Glad this post has helped you guys. I haven't replied to this post for two years since i started it! but i'm glad that you guys got use out of it and were able to get it to work. i'm a button freak, the more the merrier. i'm not on this board alot since i don't have my e36 anymore but anything i remember, which is very little, i'll try and help with.
Hi there,
I have a 93/4 lhd 325i cab and have all the bits etc, but having taken the car apart I am having trouble trying to identify pin 15 on the zke. I got a X1071 (white) connector and wiring from an older (91 I think) 3 series. I have spent the last hour trying to work out where pin 15 is on the X1659…! I have taken the glove box off and have access to the ZKE (or atleast what I think is the ZKE) but I’m not sure where pin 15 is – any clues? There are 3 boxes, one slim long one with connectors front and back. This one is on top. And two smaller ones – each a little larger than a cigarette box side by side below the larger one. The two smaller boxes have white and blue connectors, and the larger one has black, green and yellow connectors. I am really stuck and can not proceed until I can identify pin 15 – so any advice would be much appreciated.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

I am going to be doing the install on my 318is (which only has the analogue clock) i will be taking loads of pictures, and writing it up on how to do it step by step in the new year.
Also i will be after that retro fitting the check control system, again i will be taking loads of photos.
Soon as i have done it i will leave the link here.
Hello shoulders,
good to meet a fellow 318 er who is doing the full install from scratch!
Where in England are you?
How do you know if you have the check control already?
What year is your car?
How do i know if i have check control module? What colour is it/where is it?
I only have the anlaogue clock!
I am starting the conversion to 18 button obc soon.
It will still all work (except for the check control features obviously!) without the check control won't it?
hi bodders,
i live in the north west.
if you have the analogue clock this means you do not have a check control system or computer because there is no display and controls where your clock is.
you will not have the check control module either,
but this is located behind the dash or behind the steering wheel, i have diagrams but they are not clear, (if you had one!).
yeh from what i have read, it should just work without the check control. in some rare cases you have to take it to a dealer to re-program it, worth it if it works, not a big job.
But just to note there might be some extra things you need to do like install an external temperature sensor etc. i will know more when i have done mine.

Hi bodders, sorry for dealy...
I made a guide to do the conversion from analogue to 18 buttons obc, it's only in Italian, but you can see some pictures that can help you.
unfortunally i don't know why I can't post URLs in this forum, send me a PM so I can give the link to my guide
